Agree! Now the Twins will not do this.....but his defense is similar to Vasquez's defense and I would argue by the end of the season his hitting numbers would be comparable or better than Vasquez's in 2024.......for 10 million LESS! (but it would hurt Cardenas' development....yada, yada, yada.....)

I would struggle with Simeon Woods Richardson to be anywhere near the most underrated category. We have had high hopes and huge OVERrating on him the past couple of years. Based on last year, he is closer to not being in baseball in two years ......verses being underrated..... We want him to succeed even more..... because he was part of the Berrios trade......but it might be time to get a little more realistic regarding him. :(

LOL! Cody mentioned this in the first sentence(as far as the "new money" is concerned): "With money presumably coming soon from a new regional broadcasting deal, could this right-handed hitting power bat be the Twins' signature offseason signing?"

Any new money needs to be spent on pitching. Any position players needs to be filled internally. (Internally because of cost...... and internally because we have the talent.)

Any money needs to be spent on pitching. Any fielding positions need to be filled internally......

And we wonder why they have all of these arm problems. They ALREADY have been throwing a ton of innings! Burt Blyleven is rolling over in his g............never mind. :-O

Why didn't Charlie Soto pitch last year....injured? We talk about building up arm strength. Most of these 15-17 year old kids throw well over a 100 innings each summer in their Babe Ruth leagues. Suddenly, they need to ramp back up to......100 innings.......

Which is why we fill the position internally! Good point! There are many internal options that are A LOT cheaper that Taylor will be!

"The proof is in the pudding." if the Twins are getting offers, and they are getting more for one player over the other......that is the one you would probably take! If something like this is done, it better be for at least a #2 pitcher........

Wait, Stroman turned down 21M for this year?? Two years, 30M would be my guess as his max...... signing now. He is out of the Twins range (thankfully.)

The only free agents should be pitchers. With the prospects that we have....all position players should be filled from within.......especially with all of the "reducing payroll" talk going around.
  12. miracleb
I easily see him being on the 2024 Twin's team at various points in the season......so I am very happy no one chose him! :)
  13. miracleb
I also would struggle to put anyone in front of Royce Lewis......he is going to be fun to watch for the next decade!
  14. miracleb
Unfortunately, the pitching looks very "thin" on this list. Other than Pablo, I am not confident anywhere on this list is a #2 starter for a World Series type team.

Didn't bother to read the article....but had to give props to the headline! :)

    Goal: Win the World Series

I think we would not want you running the team because you want an "immediate" return (which would end up sacrificing the future.) Now if you were to bring a championship in the next two years (while sacrificing the future,)........then all is forgiven! :-)

"Though his struggles are undeniable, much of his lackluster numbers are a mix of poor luck and below-average results." LOL.......that defines every guy who has never made it to the major leagues..... :)

Huh?......nice try. This is easier than you think. If Chase Petty ends up being an all star in the future, this trade is a disaster. 16-13 record, 300 innings in 2 years. If Chase Petty never makes it to the major leagues......then the trade was excellent. This isn't rocket science....LOL! You can't determine how good a trade is today......with all of the future moving parts. If Sonny Gray is now gone and the Twins are in the same boat as they were previously(except for giving up a top prospect,) then what did that do for the long run Twin's team? If just getting into the playoffs is your goal....then I can see where your coming from..........
  20. miracleb
Tell me that in 3-4 years.......
  21. miracleb
The Cinci GM calls the Twin's front office daily....... trying to make trades. Please, please, please.....don't answer those calls!
  22. miracleb
ANY of these trades....for three years.......hard pass. This trade might still happen....but the Twins will NOT have to give up this much.
  23. miracleb
True...but still fun to look ahead.....
  24. miracleb
Huh....it looks like he was a Padres "salary dump" that they forced the Yankees to include in the deal. He flat out can't hit....at all. We would be able to get him for free....... when the Yankees "release" him.

Are you serious...do you mean it?
