  1. I don't dislike the player either, I'll cheer for him. But what I'm left with is hoping that we get the 2023 version of Santana. That version was basically a league average player. The chances are much greater however that he regresses back to 20-22 levels, or worse. We had a PO team in 2023, it seems to me the goal should be making that team better. Not going for average. Hopefully I'm wrong about the sign. I've been wrong many other times before.
  2. It's a poor signing. This will put to test the old adage of no such thing as a bad one year contract. I guess I just don't understand signing a 38 y/o guy who was just a fraction better than average last season. Because at 38 the chances of him being average again are very slim. The chances of him being significantly below average though is very high. Honestly, these aren't the 2016 Twins anymore where these type of signings are acceptable. As one poster already said, "I'm not angry. But I'm not pleased. You can and should have done better Falvey.
  3. Let him play SS. I remember a guy a long time ago who was 6-4 and played SS. The talk back then was that he was too tall for SS and should change position. They tried real hard to make him a 3B in his ROY year of 1982. The change eventually happened in 1997. Cal Ripken
  4. You took the words right out of my mouth. We should be able to prioritize both needs at the same time........
  5. Up next should be Schoebel, Festa, Winokur, Lewis and I'm thinking Jose Rodriguez.
  6. I'd like Montgomery at a discounted rate, with options and player opt outs built in.
  7. I personally would like JD Martinez brought in. He can regular DH and do some 1B. He can hit. We have the money to do it on a 1 year deal. He is a leader. I have seen his name all winter and said that's the guy we should get.
  8. Lee is not a guy we need to extend, yet. Lewis and Julien, yes. We just dumped Polanco. Lee isn't ready for ML, yet. We presently do not have a logjam, if you ever really have one. Lewis will play 3B, Correa SS, as long as they are healthy and able to. Right now Julien is our 2B. In the future, 2025, Lee will become 2B and Julien will likely shift to 1B. Julien will spell Lee at 2B and Kiriloff will split time at 1B and COF, is how I see it shaking out. Miranda if he can come back will back up 3B and some 1B as well. Farmer will be gone after 2024. There is no logjam, things were thinned out a lot after the trade of Jorge Polanco. The only logjam is at the bottom. Nick Gordon will also very likely be gone, trade or release and Larnach will serve as AAA/ML depth. Soon Jenkins and E Rodriguez will be ready and up. We will have room for their talents too when that time comes.
  9. I also prefer Louie Varland be given every chance to be in the rotation on opening day. DeSclafani is not good enough imo to vault over the present incumbents. But if they should fail we at least have some proven depth now.
  10. The more I go over this trade the more I actually like it. We needed bullpen depth and quality. Check. We needed backend of the rotation depth, regardless of if a TOR is brought in or not.And he is only costing 4 mil. Check. We now have our starting 2B without the distraction of a platoon. Check. In addition to these benefits we now have a Top 80 prospect. Who nobody in the organization or fanbase is invested in sentimentaly and can be used to draw that TOR that we would alllike to see. Do I like DeSclafani? No. Yuck. But I do like the trade as a whole. No, I don't think we are anywhere close to be done, and I can be one of the FO's hardest critics.
  11. So, are Kepler and Farmer still on the trade block? I would think Kepler more so than Farmer at this point.
  12. My local smalltown bank used to have these mini reeses in a basket. I always took a handful on my way out the door.......
  13. Anyway wishing for the very very best for Jorge Polanco as he starts a new chapter in his career. Thanks for your time as a Twin Jorge.
  14. Great analysis. I agree, some more moves are likely on the horizon. They need to be. We have lost around 15-16 WAR from last season. Topa is now the very first positive addition we have made. I like getting him, but even he comes with a question mark.Is he going to e a one time wonder as he has next to zero succesful play aside from 2024. We shall see how all of this plays out.
  15. Maybe a hard initial reaction is a normal thing when a longtime fan favorite has just been traded away. Even as the trade sinks in with me I like it more than I did at first glance. Though I do hope that DeSclafani gets traded sooner than later. LOL
  16. I have to believe this as well. I've been desperately wanting another decent pen arm and I believe we got this tonight in Topa. Gonzalez is a good get, should free someone up for another trade, might even be him. DeSclafani is not an answer to any question.
  17. I haven't looked at the prospect pieces, but DeSclafani. Yuck and pew. Disappointed in this.
  18. If Prielipp and Canterino can ever get healthy, man look out we will have something. A lot of it. SWR, I'm not really high on him at this point. Back of the rotation guy as I see it. But he does offer us some depth at that position and that does have value. I'd rather it be Richardson as the guy we call on than it be Dobnak.
  19. I too found C and CF an interesting combination for a player. With a good strong arm RF would seem to make sense long term.
  20. Burnes is great.I would love to have him. But if it were for Julien right now, I would be PO'ed to be honest. LOL Julien is going to be a great player. For years. We should be extending him like Detroit just did with Colt.
  21. For 1 season of Burnes it has to be someone lees than Julien for my taste. Cease for Julien, which would be 2 years of him, I could be swayed. For Burnes I propose something along the lines of Polanco, competitive balance pick and Louie Varland. I know we like Varland too. It's a tough call.
  22. I know he hasn't panned out to potential, but any thoughts out there on Mackenzie Gore of the Nat's? He's always intrigued me. He's still young and the Nat's are still going nowhere at present.
  23. OK. I'll meet you halfway, lets sign Montgomery then. He's an FA and will only cost us money. He doesn't even have a QO attached. I hate to burst anyone's bubble but Burnes will not be coming to MN for opening day. Maybe at the deadline we can outbid other suitors. He also wants to test the FA waters next offseason. Starting out at anything less than 32-33 mil per will get a quick click of the phone from him imo.
