  1. I used to have that run in Nov-Feb. Better tonite than then.
  2. Those of us who played ball know and live w/that tension.
  3. Twins radio had a pre-recorded interview w/Kepler, waxing very eloquently (not sarcasm) on hitting. The piece just struck me as an effort at hype for consumer consumption. Attebery was going on and on about that side of Max.. I found it inappropriately placed at this time. Don't insult me.
  4. My bet is that is in consult w/Ortho doc and trainer. Build it up.
  5. And a great report it is. Well done. I was stationed in Texas twice during the '60s and you couldn't drag me back with a team of horses, particularly for a domed stadium. Old school and they all rub me the wrong way, even when roof is open. Yes, I know their function in that Texas sun, Stood formation in it more than I care to admit. Keep up the reports! We did an Amtrak tour. Target, Miller Park (God know what it is named today), Wrigley, Rings More than Once Comiskey Park, Busch Stadium (now there is a ballpark!), and Kaufmann. The train trip gave it the 'Old School' feel. I will be going down to Cedar Rapids again this year and will file a report.
  6. Early in my non-bb career, 'collaboration' replaced 'compromise.' Takes longer but much healthier. I just had to turn my head 90.* I was as stubborn as hell before my perspective changed as 'compromise' didn't work. I was an 'either/or' boy.
  7. Observations from row 21, 3rd Base side today. Pros: 1. Gosh, I still sit in awe of the sightliness every time I come to Target Field (been to about half of the parks in US) 2. Balazovic pitched his guts out. I leaned to my son in law and said, "Can you imagine the kid's nerves right now." He REALLY po'd the front office with his bar scene/busted jar. Added pressure. I was impressed. 3. Farmer. Favorite Twin. He tossed that ball to Correa to begin the DP and led him perfectly. It was like they had been that 2B/SS connection for 10 years. Heck, he could go to any position on the field and play as the LF late inning assignment showed (bet he was praying it wasn't hit to him out there.) 4. Great day at the park. 30K by my count.Talked to the guy next to me much of the game. He was in from Aberdeen, SD for the weekend and had played HS ball. Good discussion, good man. So typical of the crowd decency at Target field. 5. I am a baseball fan first and a Twin's fan secondly. I love a 6-4 game and thoroughly enjoyed it. 6. Attending a game on Father's Day with son in law and 9 yr old grandson? How can you topped that? I spent the day stuffing him with everything my daughter ever said "no" to. Cons. 1. Defense. Keppler played the wall badly like a visiting RF and then trotted after the ball running back down the line. Taylor. Ball he missed, he ran sideways rather than turning and running to ball's position and turning around. Castro goes to cover 3B on a ball that was his, leaving it for Correa who could NEVER have gotten to that ball. That is an associated problem with a "Castro" being placed all over the field. This is MLB, not AAA. Don't expect those fundamental miscues. 2. K's. Not going to beat this dead horse. 14 of 'em. Something is going on w/Buxton. Saw him take two huge breaths and blow them out, w/shoulders raised and then dropped. Body language is indicative of a rook, not a seasoned pro. I think his knee is bone on bone, and is totally fried with not being able to contribute fully to the club. 3. Baldelli's stat obsession. Bats Solano for the matchup and lifts Kirilloff. How is the kid to learn lefties? (He was 2-1 in game). I would love to get my hands on Baldelli's iPad and lift the battery out of it.
  8. LEN3 mentioned on the radio at trade time last summer that the current FO had traded away 17 prospects to build. I find that bothersome given a .500 ball club in the worst division of MLB.
  9. Father's Day tradition, attend Twins game. 8 yrs and running. Grandson, son-in-law and I. Pray for dry weather until 4pm when the skies can open up with rain for my garden and the farmers' beans/corn.
  10. Just a word of thanks. Your coverage of MiLB really helps me keep up w/minors. Willing to venture a few (many words) on your thoughts about the Twin training and development vs say, Tampa/Baltimore/Oakland/Cleveland? Pick your comparisons and how well Twins do in comparison to a couple. TIA. db
  11. You just know what is running thru the minds of all the Twins sitting there ... can't bat Kirilloff against lefties...
  12. "Davenport," a good word from my childhood. We also had an ice box during my young years. My kids giggle when I use the word rather than refrigerator.
  13. I encourage you to take in a Kernels game. It is 4 hrs down the road from the Cities. My wife (not a BB fan) always acquiesces and we'll visit CR for a weekend. The stadium, the ball, the fans, the vendors -- all reminiscent of small town America. Well worth the visit. And yes, I wear my Kernels 5950. Go Kernels!
  14. Kernels have the best logo in all of MiLB. Daytona Tortugas 2nd (my favorite hat in my wearing collection, the total of which my wife always exaggerates --grins).
  15. Actually, Twins are 12-16 against clubs with .500 or greater records.
  16. Buxton BA: Last 7 games, 0.40. PA/K: 25/11 Last 15 games, .185. 54/19 Last 30 games, .187, 107/35 Talk about a boat anchor...
  17. https://www.mlb.com/news/derek-shelton-baseball-connection-to-two-ron-sheltons Great story on former bench coach Derek Shelton, now managing the Pirates. Weaves into the "Bull Durham" storyline and the history of the Sheltons in ball.
  18. Lewis is fielding .905 at 3B this year. Hope it is just rook nerves driving the small sample.
