  1. I have never been to a Twins game where fans booed. Yet yesterday, they came out. Suggest you are right.
  2. Round 7 Nolan Santos, Bethune Cookman. A Historical Black College. I used to attend Florida A&M / Bethune Cookman football games when I lived in Tampa. Lousy football but marching bands? Phenomenal. Bethune had a one legged tackle who blocked on PATs. Great human interest story.
  3. There goes Hurly. I am finding I can't keep up, particularly in day 2. I go down a rabbit hole researching a player, and 3 more drafts have been done.
  4. I remember an interview with Falvey on WCCO radio the November after he was hired. This is exactly what he said in the early part of the interview. He wouldn't be after specific positions on the field. He was after character and they would draft and develop their tools.
  5. Yes, it was early. No excuse. E-db. Yes. I believe he lost the bench coach job at the Marlins when Mattingly left the Marlins.
  6. (Popkins changed from Maki in Subjecl Line. Thx editor. E-db) Yanks fired hitting coach Dillon Lawson after yesterday's loss. Cashman said, "... I ultimately felt that a change was needed and that a new voice overseeing our hitting operations would give us the best chance to perform closer to our capabilities." I thought it would be interesting to compare Yanks/Twins to see how the two teams compared. BA: Yanks, .231 Twins, .232 OBP: Yanks, .300 Twins, .309 Slugging: Yanks, .410 Twins, .400 K% Twins, 26.8% Yanks, 22% BA w/RISP Twins, .232 (I was surprised it was this high. I checked it twice) Yanks, .231 Question: 1. Should the Twins follow suit and make that unusual midseason change and let Popkins go? 2. Is Popkins merely a mirror of the entire organizational approach to hitting or is he just in over his head? 3. Is there anyone within the organization who could take over? I support canning him now. I don't believe his termination would adversely affect the Twins anemic offensive effort. Further, I believe the roster needs a wakeup call. Coaches are like manager's termination: You can't fire a whole team but someone needs to assume some accountability for this team's dismal offensive failure thru 1/2 way point. Popkins should go and roster changes are also needed. As well, the culture needs to change. Twins' individual players decide if they need batting practice. Coaches not conducting daily infield practice.
  7. Shoot, I am ready to have them ride Greyhound/Jefferson charters.
  8. Do you remember a worse division? Cleve is atop with a .500 record. Royals the bottom feeders are playing .286 ball. Today, Cleve, Twins, Tigers, WSox all took it in the shins. The Rocket Royals were the only team to pull one out.
  9. Angels take the big bopper, Nolan Schanuel, from Florida Atlantic, University (my alma mater)! Go Owls. https://fausports.com/news/2023/6/1/schanuel-earns-all-american-nod-from-collegiate-baseball.aspx
  10. Hats off to Twins Daily on all the previews of the draftees - great coverage to all the writers. db
  11. Cleve kicking Royals butt, 3-0, bottom of 3rd. There goes 1st place. Twins best ERA in all of baseball. Cleveland's announcer, Tom Hamilton, on the anemia of Twins: "Whoever said pitching is 90% of the game is now pursuing a career in fast food." Tigers threw no-hitter; purring at end of 1st half as the birds work over the Twins.
  12. Agree on listening. I have never been as interested as I am this year in the developments by/on Aug 1st. I think it will demonstrate the FO's approach to this year but as importantly, how secure Falvey feels in his role/relationship with ownership.
  13. I am not interested in this year. This club is going no where post season. I am interested in retaining Gray. Use this year to come to collaboration with Gray. He is a bulldog and I love bulldogs. Polanco, agree he is aging but I think MLB sees his bad wheels. Some club with strong punch will need light hitter (who can surprise you) and offers great defense. Kepler. Everyone knows Gallo is the vulnerable big-bopper with good defense. Tomorrow is what I am interested in. Strictly prospects come our way, not plugs for this anemic hitting club. Tomorrow.
  14. I looked thru the top 25 (pitcher dominated) and realized that I am a 'seller.' Trade Gallo, Kepler, Taylor, Solano for prospects. None is a gate turner so revenue won't be affected. Enough marquee players remain. Wallner comes up, same with Larnach. Build for tomorrow and let the youth perform.
  15. I went to one of his 3 games. His 1.43 wHip is inflated by his walks (14inn/11BB). The game I observed, he had control issues and I wondered if the ump was biased in his favor knowing Keuchel's past. He is far from ready for a call-up. These 3 games are just his Spring training and he needs to improve on velocity as well (81-85mph) fastballs. He would be throwing BP at the MLB right now with that speed.
  16. ...and these two got away. Have them on the radio right now, Blue Jays/White Sox. One I am sorry to have lost and one, well, glad he is gone. You know which is which. Berrios/Lynn
  17. I subscribed to The Athletic years ago but let it run out. My only sports interest is baseball and it didn't seem worth it. My NYTimes subscription was running out ($1/wk) and was going to let it go. I have the Wash Post as well. She said, "Let me sweeten it for you, $1.50/wk, all food sections, The Athletic, and a couple of other bennies. I said "Do it." Just a note to you if you have that $1/NYTimes, give them a buzz.
  18. Me as well. Didn't read the thread. Is this a vibrating bed?
  19. Word starts with a "g" and rhymes with 'bump.' So ban Lynn from the forum?
