  1. ...and not only that, if Ober spoke to his manager about getting tired or winded, Baldelli would have been quick to mention it in the post-game excuse video, so that reasoning is faulty.
  2. We've had three years to set the infield and get players who can at least throw the ball to first base. Apparently, we still only have one player who can. It's all about focusing on getting the fundamentals right at least. This loss (to me) is as bad as coughing up the six-run lead...
  3. To be fair to Ryan, the pitch to Peña looked like a very good pitch indeed. It was high and tight, but he just tomahawked it. Give credit where credit is due. When you score seven or eight, the miscues seem to be a minor irritation; however, when it's only two or three runs a night, they are glaring....
  4. The hitting in the 6th was impressive. Just hit the ball where it is pitched. I thought the double-steal idea was a bit far-fetched; however, but hey, you can't have everything...
  5. OOTP Simulation: The Minnesota Twins Can Win The 2025 World Series
  6. Baldelli's excuse-making for Ober (and himself) is lame. If he had a virus, you rest him.
  7. Darth Bader! It could scare some opposing teams with that nickname...
  8. I was listening on WCCO to catch the Eddie Bane fantasy game. He really was a flash in the pan though. Another flash in the pan was Jim Hughes. He managed to have a winning record that first year in the majors (16-14), but it was a smoke and mirrors thing really. He started out with a 6-0 record throwing that palm ball and his ERA was something like 0.87 for May in 1975, but in the next outing, he couldn't get out of the second inning against the Red Sox as they lit him up like a cheap box of fireworks. They started waiting on the palm ball and his fastball wasn't that impressive. I was really hooked as a believer in Hughes by that time though. He wasn't horrible that first season, but at times he couldn't throw a strike to save his life. The next season, he wasn't very good. I had his APBA card for 1975 and he was considered a "C" grade pitcher. (Oddly, that was the year Tom Kelly was at first base for the Twins.)
  9. Buxton and Correa will undoubtedly be the statistical leaders in most missed games...hey, just kidding...well maybe not...
  10. I'm no manager, but this is kind of article is aggravating to consider (nothing against the article). It seems like nothing changes despite the claims of a 'new' approach based upon deeper understanding of the game....it's mindful of the Luis Arraez rap, namely that he simply cannot hit lefthanded pitching despite his hitting approach. The Marlins immediately thought this was hogwash and said you're in the lineup 24/7 unless you're injured. Lo and behold, he started raking against lefties.
  11. Well, you gotta write something so why not throw some darts at the lunar eclipse. Stranger things have happened...
  12. Spring is in the air. Of course TD members care. As young men throw balls and crack bats. We hope and dream to tip our hats. So we put our hopes in a guy named France. We hope he's a stud, but not much of chance. But now it's spring, So discussing baseball is our thing.
  13. Wasn't there a knuckleballer who was able to not spin it and still produce 90+? His name slips my mind. I was really hopeful he'd be making some noise by now...
  14. It's a good question. The Twins booted some balls, but throwing (especially when Correa was absent) was not very good. I'd like to know the answer to this question....
  15. Good pitching wins games but bad defense loses games. I hope the defense is better than it appears, but time will tell. Last year's September meltdown was an all around mess, but the defense cost the Twins several games (back-to-back in Tampa).
  16. I love Ryan. I thought he was a steal the moment I saw him pitch against Japan in the one of those international competitions. He completely shut down the Japanese hitters (they were clearly the best squad as most of them were regular players in the NPB). It would be great if he could stay healthy for the whole season.
  17. Don't get me wrong, but landing Bader and France feels a lot more like a double-shot of Margot than a double-shot of Nelson Cruz... I'd be stunned if either of these guys even raise an eyebrow let alone the ceiling... What's worse is that as a couple of TD contributors have mentioned, we'll probably hang on to them for the whole season rather than DFN them...
