  1. He's at 80 pitches. No need to overpitch the bullpen tonight. Doesn't hurt to let him at least open it up.
  2. OK, Max. Let's see what you can do with one of your last chances.
  3. Dick referring to Plouffe as a former Twins great. OK, whatever.
  4. Varland not fazed by minor difficulty in the first. Let's get 'em in the top of 2.
  5. Because they want to make the decision about any IL stays as late as possible. I expect Lewis will not be out for 10 days, but it doesn't hurt to give him another day off to make sure. None of us knows whether Correa will need to be rested and, if so, for how long. I'm sure they didn't want to commit to a 10-day IL assignment for Buxton until they absolutely had to. IL stays can be retroactive. It's a complex situation but the team is handling these issues well. Please do not complain.
  6. The decision was probably made yesterday, or at the latest this morning. But there's no reason to announce the decision sooner than it needs to be announced.
  7. I don't know the intricacies of the rules. Could the Twins have activated Larnach with the corresponding move of Garlick being sent down and IL'ing Buxton with the corresponding move of Wallner being called up? Kind of like a double switch.
  8. I'm not down there, but just out of curiosity are there still tickets available? 😉
  9. I expect Garlick to be sent to AAA to balance the activation of Larnach, but I also pose the question: who has more value right now, Garlick or Kepler? And BTW, I believe Wallner is eligible to be placed on the major league roster after tomorrow's game. At that time the next question to be posed: who has more value, Wallner or Kepler?
  10. To reinforce this point, I'd bet almost every MLB organization already has at least one good field/poor bat outfielder somewhere in its minor league system. So no team would give up anything for such a player, much less at Kepler's salary. This is especially true for a rebuilding team; a team like that would be much better off seeing what one of its minor leaguers could do. At this point I'm afraid Kepler is untradeable. And he's blocking better players who are on the rise. There's only one answer for Falvine and that's DFA.
  11. A player can't be traded unless another team is willing to give up an asset to get him. I don't see that being the case. Other teams aren't blind; they know it's pretty much certain he'll be DFA'd soon and if someone thinks he's worth a roster spot they can get him for nothing when that happens.
  12. And one more thing: it's not an experiment. It's simply trying to roll with what is given, doing what they can with what they have and hoping for the best.
  13. I'd say it's far from settled, but I think third base is Lewis' unless and until it isn't. If Miranda returns to form and if Buxton can play CF regularly (neither of which is a small if) I see Miranda as the primary DH during the next few years. Hoping and projecting, Kirilloff will be at 1B, Julien at 2B, Correa at SS, Lee as a utility player with regular usage, Larnach, Wallner, Buxton and Celestino will be the OF. We then fill in with two catchers (presumably Jeffers and someone else) and another utility player. Obviously parts can be mixed and matched but that could be a very competitive roster.
  14. I heard a story from a very reliable source (it's not my place to name names) about a person in the Twins organization who was let go for a very good reason. The person who was let go was not identified in the telling of this story, but it took place at about the same time Mientkiewicz' contract was not renewed. I put 2+2 together and realized that the person let go had to have been Mientkiewicz. Good riddance.
  15. Yeah, but in Castro's AB this game was winnable, or at least extendable. Let's hope that it at least was a learning experience.
  16. I know those pitches are hard to let go, but he was throwing sinkers below the zone all inning. Castro gave away a walk in that AB.
  17. Hey, that’s one more hit every 1,000 at-bats. Great!
  18. Wallner and Larnach are both forcing the issue. Can’t keep both of them down unless Kep steps up his game, and significantly.
  19. I’ll save everyone the trouble of looking it up: 6’5”, 165 lb.
  20. The July Apple TV schedule has been announced and the Twins game of July 7 vs Baltimore is on the list. As far as I can tell the schedule for August and September has not yet been announced.
  21. That's because he had way more left handed at bats.
