REPORT: Twins to Promote Kohl Stewart for His MLB Debut

It's a question of room on the 40-man (for either pickup) versus room all season on the 25-man. To me that's a pretty big gap, especially considering that only one bottom feeder out of all 29 other teams needs to find a way to make room on their 40.

 

Again, if he's taken, it may not be a big loss to us. I was just responding to the notion that since he wasn't drafted last winter, no one would claim him now.

The gap was in reference to the odds that he's claimed vs the odds he's selected in the Rule V. I'll be shocked if nobody takes a chance on him if he's left unprotected. IMO they're going to have to add him to the 40 man to keep him. 

I agree, he might not be a big loss, but at least this way they'll have something to go off of before making that decision. 

Sure they can give him a shot, I just question if he has the stuff.  Most of what I've read  suggests he doesn't currently.  I'd love to be wrong.  

I believe Trevor Hildenberger did not have the right stuff either and numerous pitchers have made great careers without the overpowering stuff.  He is succeeding and judgment  can only be made when opportunity proves.

It's been a good couple of innings but let's wait and see. Innings eating is more than that.

He ate 4 so far. How many does he have to eat?

Looks like he's going to have to settle for Envy as his cardinal sin for this game.

When changing the pitcher gives you a better chance to get out of the inning and changing the third baseman does not.

Sure... you gotta use logic on me. 

I think Stewart’s future is in the bullpen. I doubt he ever gets to the point of being able to navigate a lineup more than once or twice.

Tigers were 2 for 9 first time through. 4 for 8 with HBP second time. 2 for 2 with BB third time.

So a ground ball by the second basemen and a chopper to the thirdbasemen that would have been an out at third 99.9% of the time is your evidence that Stewart’s future is in the bullpen.

C'mon, there's 5 years of evidence that Stewart struggles to miss bats as a pro starter. That doesn't all go away if Adrianza makes one play.

 

Nothing wrong with a potential future in the pen either.

Stewart is young. His strike out rate is trending up. His ceiling is unknown to me.

I just want to say that it was a good start. 

1 K 1 Smay... Nothing was hit hard... Nothing. 

I won't predict his future but it was a good start and we should give him another one.
