I guess you could consider this spot as Twins Daily's version of 'Deep Thoughts.' Thank You ChiTown Here are my Deep Thoughts Things to Think About 1. It's a day game... And I'm just getting the chance to think about this game. So I'm late. 2. Boston again... As often as we play Boston in the preseason... You'd swear that we we were in the same city or something. 3. Bartlett in RF... Outfield training is probably gonna get ramped up before Monday. 4. Pinto Catching... He's coming North... It'll be interesting to see how the catching labor is divided up. 5. Think about Monday... Opening day... I've taken the day off from work because it should be a national holiday. Cue the Mama and the Papa's...ba da ba da da dah... Monday Monday... So good to me... Cue Jimmy Buffett... Come Monday... It'll be alright... Cue Fleetwood Mac... Monday Morning you look so fine... Cue the Boomtown Rats... Tell me why I don't like Mondays... I want to shoot the whole day down. Ok... Let's not cue up the Boomtown Rats with this crowd. Let's not cue up the Carpenters either. Let's go into Monday with optimism.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Strong winds blowing out toward left today, so maybe the Twins can increase their hr totals. And the Commissioners Cup is on the line today. Score, Twins, score!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Isn't it the Mayor's Cup? And they have another game tomorrow, too, or is Boston that much ahead at this point?
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Halsey is still waiting for Mauer to bat lead-off.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Oh, wait, strike that ... forgot that JetBlue is no longer inside the mayoral jurisdiction.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Halsey is still waiting for Mauer to bat lead-off. I think Halsey is gonna have a long wait ... don't see it happening.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Hey, Halsey ... if you're still reading ... you've mentioned in a couple different threads about Gardy being in the tower watching over the minor leaguers ... any idea what/who he's looking at? Is it 'curious' that he's down there, or just looking at the future?
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 At least Gardy moved Mauer up one notch, so he's not hitting in front of Willingham. And Hammers replacement didn't sulk and is in the minor league camp today, Parmelee. Also, TK had Mauer and 3 other coaches at first today giving lessons. The Mayors Cup is now the Commissioners Cup. Series tied at 2, but tommorrow should be rained out, so this is probably the only chance for the Twins to win some hardware til next spring.

Is it 'curious' that he's down there, or just looking at the future? About all I could think was that he was looking to see who to bring on the road last night. Day before I have no clue. Maybe keeping an eye on Santana.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Bartlett doing his job working the count.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 At least the season starts Monday! Could be a long one. Much deep thinking by Brian!!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Heh ... he probably got busy at work ... which happens ... which is what I should be doing ... oy ....
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Sorry wasn't complaining I meant the up coming season will bring much deep thinking from Brian.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Heh ... he probably got busy at work ... which happens ... which is what I should be doing ... oy .... I was busy at work... And I just can't get into this spring training day game stuff right now. Bring Monday on... I'm actually willing to give up this weekend to fast forward to Monday.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 At least you've driven "Glory Days" right out of my mind, RB.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Willingham with long fly to left. At least that's progress.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Willingham with long fly to left. At least that's progress. Baby Steps... Long fly... Then warning track... Then off the wall... Then in the seats... Then a no doubter.... If he follows that pattern.. He will reach the upper deck by 2016.
James Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Is anyone else listening to the game on KTWN? They've had some weird technical issues. Every once in a while there it breaks out into a weird pulsating feedback sounding loop. It sounds like something out of a horror/sci-fi movie. It's kind of cool. Or is that just my radio?
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Hicks looks like one of those guys who needs the pitcher to work quickly .... kind of fidgety out in center.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Watching on FSN; at the moment Provus is interviewing Rob Antony. Antony just sounds really uncomfortable at public speaking. Not TK uncomfortable, but clearly he'll be happy when Ryan is back.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Sorry wasn't complaining I meant the up coming season will bring much deep thinking from Brian. I don't think he'll be the only one deep thinking.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Defense letting us down Forget the Bartlett miscue... Why isn't Escobar throwing home? Someone besides Hammer could have had that Bogearts ball. And now the walls are starting to wobble.

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I do expect to see Kubel playing LF a fair amount, with Hammer as DH. I think Kubel does, too.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Now we're moving..... nice to see Escobar with that hit. Does my heart good to see some of the younger guys batting well. (Now there are some older ones who need to turn it up -- looking at you Willi). Wow, Hicks!!!!
James Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I wish I could have seen that move by Hicks. Gladden sounds very impressed by it.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Florimon choked on a bunt... Hicks over committed and got hung up. Mistake followed by mistake. Hicks made a good call by just going for third instead of trying to scramble back to 2nd. Boston on blew it defensively or Hicks was toast at 3b. Gladden oversold it. It was bad baseball all around.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 It was bad baseball all around. But at least it was fun. And fun is about all I can hope for this year.
