stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 September 1 is just around the corner (less than two weeks). The Twins are out of playoff contention and no trades will be made after September 1, so the team should call up anyone who interests them for the future on that date. However, for the first time in years, Rochester has a chance to make the International League playoffs. Normally, just about everyone on the 40-man roster would be recalled if they were going good or at least okay. That would include Hicks, Mastroianni, Escobar, Colabello, Tonkin, Hendriks, Diamond, Parmelee, and Hernandez (if he is healthy). With the Red Wings knocking on the door, I suppose most of these guys will stay in Rochester until they are eliminated. I expect one or two pitchers to fill the starting rotation for the Twins, other than that all hands on deck for the Red Wings.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I doubt the Twins call up any key piece to Rochester's run.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 they didn't call up anyone last year.....why would they this year when the have a reason / excuse not to? If anything, maybe Sano / Rosario move up, but they might not do that to be "fair" to the players that got them in position.
Teflon Verified Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Since the Twins have already used so many players from Rochester or demoted players to Rochester who started their seasons with the Twins, September call-ups wouldn't provide much new insight on these guys. Better to let them finish of a playoff run.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I agree... let them get through the playoffs. Who knows? Could be three games and done. Would be great to see them keep winning. I don't think there's anyone other than Colabello and Pinto that I'm really excited to see. At this point, I'd be surprised to see Hicks come back. Diamond and Hernandez likely will. But I definitely think they should play in Rochester. As much for the guys that aren't getting the call up as anything else.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Calling Pedro Hernandez up from New Britain would solve the Rochester roster disruption problem quite easily.
Badsmerf Verified Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Sano, Rosario, Meyer, May and Buxton.
