Love the arm and that he takes a hack at the plate - he’s the anti Lee in that regard. I would like to caution everyone that has Houston penciled in at SS next year. He needs to finish this year strong, hit in AAA and finally the bigs. I’m hopeful but it is far from given.

I've watched the kid play twice now at the ballpark (love calling rookies kids)....Based on what I've seen, the kid is a gamer. Still a little hesitant at SS, but I think that's just adjusting to a new environment, etc. The fact that he went 3-4 the other day is huge. Great confidence builder too.

I'm encouraged by what I've seen so far.

He should start every game moving forward @ SS until Houston is ready next year. Then sliding to his natural position 2nd base.  They could be our Trammell - Whitaker double play combo.

Man, what a problem to have, 2 young shortstops of the quality of Culpepper and Houston.

Someone earlier mentioned that Culpepper just looks the part, and having watched Houston live, that's exactly my evaluation.

Then again, I always thought the same thing about Will Holland.

Too early to for judgements.

The play in the hole last night was fun. KC went in the hole smoothly, backhanded the ball perfectly and threw an absolute laser to first. That dude has a rocket.

Today he showed he is still learning. But he is staying ahead of Big League pitching.

I've been suspect about the offense, and getting off to a decent start there means very little.  But my prediction on him was/is I just don't know.  There are too many conflicting predictors.  As I've stated, this is a wait and see.  But it was enough to put him ahead of everybody except Jenkins...and perhaps Lackey.

The impressive thing is his defense.  Much better than I imagined.  Not great, but it looks like he's got all the skills to improve to great.  Footwork, arm, et al give some hope there.  Since I've never thought Houston was anything hitting-wise, this is essential perhaps.
