    Tuned in with men on base in the 6th, they almost batted around twice. Great at bats against Finnegan: nobody was biting on the splitter, resulting in walks and hotter's counts. Went from a game you could still lose to a blowout. Most fun I've had watching the Twins in a while, 10 run inning!

    Strong disagree - Jenkins was playing okay at St. Paul not so long ago. He's on a heater now, but better than Buxton? Stop the 2nd guessing and what if click bait. NO!

    Sweeping the "lowly" White Sox would be a great start. Could put them 3 or so games behind. Winning the division seems easier at this point than Wild-Card imo. Gotta say though, having been to see the Sox in Chicago this year, their trading away guys like Crochet, and generally sucking have given them a pretty sweet core of young players to build around. Not the same hate-able bunch of years past. Looks like they might have finally played it right.

    This is great - he is looking the part more and more every day. Do rosters still expand on Sept. 1? Add him then, avoid the 40 man roster doo doo. Get a good month of him for free. If my basic math is wrong, my bad.

    Man, what a problem to have, 2 young shortstops of the quality of Culpepper and Houston. Someone earlier mentioned that Culpepper just looks the part, and having watched Houston live, that's exactly my evaluation. Then again, I always thought the same thing about Will Holland.

    Pete Maki, Luis Ramirez, and Latroy Hawkins seem to find tweaks to make these guys better, consistently. Our pitching coaches deserve a lot of credit.

    Because so many big spenders were penalized draft position in the last draft, these incentive picks ended up 26, Atlanta for Baldwin winning ROY, and 28, Houston, for Brown bing in the top 3 for AL CY Young. Picks in the 20s are nothing to sneeze at. However, I think the roster being full is reason number 1, and the possible lockout number 2.

    Never heard of Fragoza until tonight, but the numbers are amazing. Always wondered how Dodgers and Yankees always have such rich farms systems, and it's Int'l draft I think. How did the Twins acquire this guy? My web search failed.

    Give him a shot this September. He was so firmly in the bust category for so long, but he persevered, put in the time and work, and dammit, he deserves a little reward. The OPS against lefties alone is reason enough. Maybe don't even wait until September.

    This is a good start- Amick has 23 homers this year as a slightly underage AA player, 2nd rounder, so a decent asset heading New York's way. Twins getting back a guy with a career 3.18 ERA over 10 years and 382 IP.. Fewer hits allowed than innings pitched, more strikeouts than IP. Solid baseball trade.

    I watched Tait in Cedar Rapids, and he looked better than a 19 year old should. Over three games, he had a runner thrown out, and a 2 homer game. Interesting fact: he's just about 1 year younger than Lackey. What a luxury to have mucho prospects at catcher and shortstop. Next, center field.

    Well, they signed all their draft picks and spent over their pool allowance of 16.9 million to do so. That is probably the best way forward for the Twins: draft, develop, find diamonds in the rough. I wouldn't touch the blue chippers on the farm to improve this Twins team. They showed right after the All-Star break that they are capable of dropping right out of the race just like that.

    Taking a look at the standings tonight, guess who else is competing for a wild card spot? Yankees and Red Sox: oh, and the Guardians. Hovering within a game of the Twins in that race are Seattle, Houston, Baltimore. Jeffers is the best chip to deal. I'd keep Ryan for now.

    Garver and Jeffers in Seattle. That would be bizarre. BTW, I've always considered trading prospects for established players the domain of the baseball haves, NYY, LAD, Boston, Philadelphia, Mets, etc. The Twins are in no position either on the field, or in the bank account, to give up potential cost controlled players, some of whom might be really good, at this point. If it's a baseball trade of equivalents, then maybe.

    I don't expect the Twins to make any kind of move that would put any of their top prospects in play. They would be foolish to trade any of them for the small chance to get knocked out of the playoffs early.. Unlike the Wild, they are not in "win now" mode. Their window is tomorrow, once these great prospects are in the bigs. The White Sox are in position to add, not the Twins. I expect the Twins to add more Nance level help, which isn't a bad approach.

    I wouldn't surprised if the Twins had Tinney high on their board because they expected Lackey to go 1 or 2. When he was still there at 43, and Twins had already done due diligence on him, I get the pick. He is an interesting prospect, much more than Sabato, because catcher., About Sabato I hope he gets a September call up and some at bats. He has persevered for 6 years and has gotten better. It would be a nice reward for a loyal soldier to give him a Twins jersey for his trophy case.

    After just 16 games, 2 years younger than league average. More than holding his own. A+ to AA is a big jump. I never said anything about AAA. They have a pretty good shortstop up there already.
