darin617 Verified Member Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago If Alex Jackson had an option it wouldn't be an issue. Victor Caratini and Jackson played pretty good in Ryan Jeffers absence. I know this would be against the Twins way, but they should offer Jeffers a 3 year extension at a respectable rate for a catchers and if he turns it down they should move him at the deadline. Kyle Fedko would be the odd man out if they keep 3 catchers.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago They'd have to offer him five years, fifteen per.... Yes, go to three catchers. Put Buxton on the IL, option Fedko, call up Roden. Jeffers on the team until traded, because they aren't paying him. Linus 1

I think that’s probably true (5/75), but that also means we should probably make him a QO and that he wouldn’t accept it. So what does that say about what the Twins should demand in return for him?

So what does that say about what the Twins should demand in return for him? No chance he declines 23 million for one year, imo. I think they can get a 45+ player back. I'd partner him with another minor league player to get more..... But I'm no GM.

I’m not saying you’re wrong that he would accept 1/23m, but that doesn’t really jive in my head with “it would take 5/75” Obviously the AAV is a pretty big difference, but for a catcher, if you think you can get 5/75, or hell, even 4/60 as a free agent, accepting 1/23 doesn’t make much sense to me.
