If he was a Viking you’d be saying that was a hit draft pick for Kwesi…

I'd probably be saying that fans don't understand what hit rates on draft picks really are and they don't understand that teams draft for the now and the future.

But, to be clear, Tesla was a better pick than Felton.

This.  This right here.

God I hope this breaches the bias we keep dealing with on this subject.

Actually, if Felton has six TDS and was making us say it's ok to trade Addison or let Nailor go, it would be a hit.

Welcome aboard to reality

I'm not sure the "Dallas Turner is a bust" camp should be talking much here.

I wouldn't mind calling Teslaa a hit!  He's sure as hell 1 billion times the hit Ed Ingram was.  Or Mekhi Blackmon.  The only players that KAM has drafted that been better their rookie years than Teslaa were Addison and maybe Jackson.

Both of whom were taken two rounds earlier by the Vikings.

I thought that was me? I hope he played like this against teams not starting backups. I think he will. I liked that pick a lot, but he was bad, bad, last year and not good to start this year. We'll see. Hoping he continues on this trajectory.

I said he was in bust territory because as soon as Gink came back his snaps plummeted.  He wasn't getting much pressure.  The coaches didn't appear to trust him.  That's bust territory at that time.  I stand by that.

I also, last year, compared him to Nolan Smith Jr. due to age and thought he could have a breakout this year with coaching.  (Effectively that he was a late bloomer build and needed to "man up" a bit to unlock his potential)

It appears, this second half, that the coaching and work he got helped him get out of that bust hole and show what he's capable of.  We're firmly in stud territory now.  I hope he stays there.

Over on footballs future, many are predicting Kirk comes back. How would that work? Because JJ is benched fast if he struggles and Kirk is in Minnesota.

If the Vikings acquired Cousins, he'd be starting Week 1.

Unless Atlanta keeps him, Cousins will be starting somewhere in the NFL next year. Even before we get to unplanned injuries, there's not enough capable starting QBs to go around.  Mia, NYJ, Pit, Cle, Ind, LV, AZ all need QBs and if they were smart NO and Car would be looking too. Daniel Jones gets one job, and Mac Jones possibly gets traded to another spot. I doubt Aaron Rodgers comes back, but even if he does, that leaves at least four spots and there probably aren't four draftable starters this year. Maybe some teams would take Kyler Murray and his youth and legs over Cousins, but I bet most wouldn't. Cousins would almost certainly be more desirable than Tagovailoa, and after that, were probably talking about backups like Brissett, Marriota and Wentz.

I don't know that I agree on NO and CAR.  Shough and Young have both had big moments, I'd stick that out another year in both cases.

But you're right....there aren't enough starting QBs to go around.  I think people are going to have to lower their expectations on how good that backup is.

Think like....Zach Wilson level.

I agree, the 'veteran' QB the Vikings bring in might be a Zach Wilson type. Nobody, including me, wanted Wentz, but in hindsight, he was probably a well above average backup. It's ugly out there. Lot's of known names, but really, watch a guy like Marcus Mariota for more than the highlights and you realize he's not good at all. All the talk of bringing in a vet to challenge JJ isn't a positive thing in my mind; it almost certainly means the Vikings are punting on 2026 as well. Joe Flacco? Andy Dalton? Come on, that's not going to win a division let alone a Super Bowl.

As for Shough and Young, yeah, those teams likely will stick with those guys, but considering I'm already on the lookout for another young franchise QB to replace McCarthy, it would be disingenuous for me to suggest THOSE teams should be happy with QBs who don't at all look like they could make their teams a contender.

To make a modest correction, Jones will be out at least the first half of next season with the ACL injury so, really, one less starter to go around.

If he's out, yeah, that's one more opening for a should-be-a-backup guy, but reports are that he should be ready for training camp. Also, it was an achilles, not ACL.

Yep, you're right. I thought it was the ACL.
