Hard pass. I don’t want a Shannahan special game manager. He might be good for a team that’s looking for a Kirk Cousins ceiling.

I want a QB who can drag a team to the Super Bowl, and I’m willing to draft more JJ McCarthys until he they get it right.

Everyone is trying to do that. You’ve got to get someone who gives you a chance. Fans can wait, coaches, FO’s and players can’t. You think KOC and your star WR want another year of this???

The average tenure for an NFL coach is 3-3.3 years. The average playing career is 3.3 years.

The team is not going to punt on the next year hoping McCarthy figures it out. They’ll will be bringing someone in, almost certainly IMO. KOC isn’t going to let himself get fired for the long term future possibilities of the Vikings organization.

We’re approaching Josh Rosen territory. McCarthy is catastrophic for this offense

Maybe, maybe not. He and KOC just got four year extensions. The last GM missed in a few qb picks - ponder, Bridgewater, Bradford. Wilfs seem patient

I mean, he has one really good pick in 4 years (two if you count a kicker).  That's not going to cut it. They dealt for Hockenson, and got 2 years out of him (he's bad this year). I don't see how anyone thinks he's doing a good job at this point.....last year's record built on guys either he didn't draft, or who he let leave this year.

Choosing McCarthy over Darnold will get you fired, by itself. He made the big gamble. What did they see in him to make that big a gamble? I was alright with it because of how Darnold ended and I assumed McCarthy wouldn’t be this terrible. But it’s looking like that was the wrong choice.

Most of that with guys he didn't draft, and let leave after last year, as that post stated.....this team is mostly his, other than Jefferson and Smith and the OTs.

I think the decision is something that isn't going to be made after six games. This was a bad game by McCarthy, no question. If he doesn't show improvement by the end of the year, Vikings are in an ugly spot. But going with the draft pick over Darnold was the right decision, regardless of whether it works out.

I agree.....but choosing McCarthy sure looks bad at this point. Bo Nix would look great in this offense....

We’re getting to that point where even if he does show improvement, are 6 better games going to make you not bring a new guy in to compete for the job ? Considering how bad it’s been ?

Depends on how he looks in those games.

Me too

It always should have been this way. Don’t know why it took so long.
