thelanges5 Verified Member Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 It’s obvious that there’s no love for Rocco on TD. I haven’t seen a lot of names so I’m wondering who you all think would be a good replacement? Plouffe recently threw out Torii Hunter on a Skor North podcast. I have been thinking on this since I heard it and it does make sense. I love the way Torii played the game and he was/is a fan favorite (at least in my circles). He’s currently a special advisor for the Angels so I don’t think it would take much to pry him away. I didn’t like seeing him in their dugout on the last LA trip.
Irishman Verified Member Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 I don’t think anyone else would make it much better. First of all, Pohlad needs to sell the team. jaimedude 1
Dave Borton Verified Member Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 While I like Joe Maddon, Falvey would never go for someone like him. Maddon has his own mind and wouldn't acquiesce to Falvey.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 Internal choice: Brian Dinkelman External choice: If I knew the correct answer, I'd be getting paid a 7 figure salary in MLB. I would be no different than looking at the media guides of successful teams. Hey, that's how we hired Derek Falvey! FlyingFinn, Doctor Wu, thelanges5 and 1 other 3 1
Doctor Wu Verified Member Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 I'd love a change of manager, but as others have posted, a new GM would also be a good move. As for Torii Hunter ... I'd pass on him.
jaimedude Verified Member Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 There is no appaent desire by ownership in Minnesota to even field a competitive team anymore at least no clear explanation for what they did at the trade deadline this year. Team and franchise appear rudderless. Whatever plan they have doesn't seem coherent or conducive to developing a winning team. Another poster suggested Torri Hunter. My outside of the box pick for manager without experience is this guy. AJ Pierzynski. Why him you ask? AJ played for two legends as managers that won the World Series and won a ring himself. He Pierzynsli knows what type of team and player's it takes to win a World Series. He would have a good idea on what coaches are needed from pitching on down. I like how passionate Pierzynski is about baseball as an announcer. Not sure if you could get him to do the job, but one thing Pierzynski would be as a manager is entertaining, and he wouldn't let the player's half ass it, or walk over him as a manager. AJ would be here to make the Twins winners again. I'm not sure he would do it but he is crazy enough to think he can win. Stephen Voght has been pretty good at the gig with the Guardians why don't the Twins bring in a former catcher, not the Hall of Famer either, the hard nosed, agitator.
