Keaschall’s hit streak

Keaschall has played in 10 games as a Twin.  He’s gotten base hits in 9 of the games.  In the tenth game (well, seventh), back in April, he got exactly one plate appearance, in which he also got a hit…by pitch.  Breaking his arm.

Can we get a special ruling on this, as either a)a 10 game hit streak or b)a 9 game hit streak?

Well, to be fair, it could be c and still also a or b.  But let’s say that he gets a hit in his next 47 straight games.  It would be a shame if he didn’t get to break DiMaggio’s streak because of a game where he got one PA that resulted in a broken arm.

Admittedly, there is a chance this won’t wind up being an issue.

Just seeing this and the HBP does not count as an AB so the streak is alive and well.

Meaning if he doesn’t get an AB in a game, it doesn’t count as a game for streak purposes?

That is correct.

Or since HBP stands for HIT By Pitch, one could argue Luke had a HIT during that game!

I should add to this that a Sac Fly, although it does not count as an AB does end a streak.
