Dave Borton Verified Member Posted March 18, 2025 Posted March 18, 2025 Attended Div I college game in Boca Raton, Florida, on Sunday. Florida Atlantic University (my alma mater) vs Bradley. 1st base had a double bag, one in fair territory and an orange one in foul. Say what? New rule in Div I in 2025. Orange bag is there for the runner, thereby reducing collusions at 1st. https://247sports.com/college/mississippi-state/article/ncaa-baseball-rule-double-bag-first-base-mississippi-state-missouri-state-246022921/ DJL44 and Cory Engelhardt 2
LambchoP Verified Member Posted March 18, 2025 Posted March 18, 2025 This is a good idea, wonder if and when we'll see in in the minor leagues. Much better idea than the ABS challenge system. I really don't like the challenge, just something else to stop the momentum and flow of the game Dave Borton 1

Trov Verified Member Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 Not sure why MLB never did this. It reduces the collisions, stepping on the first base foot/ankle, and reduces the runner interfering with the throw to first from catcher. It only makes sense.
