Parmelee for Morneau, Escobar for Florimon, Mauer catches day game after night game and Doumit sits with his sore ankle. I'm really glad Gibson is with the Twins, but it might have made sense to recall Herrmann for the Miami series at least.

If Doumit can play, I really don't see the problem with Gibson getting a few days to acclimate to Anderson and the Twins.

I consider this a blessing, really... It means Gardy has a harder time keeping Parmelee out of the lineup.

Slowey was warming up briefly. Fortunately I have the Marlins broadcast so I won't be able to hear Dick drone on about all the puppies and kitties Slowey kicked while he was a Twin.

The Marlins should embrace their tacky surroundings an go with the Houston Astros style jerseys of the late 70s/early 80s. Taste the rainbow.

Aren't their jerseys already tacky and 70's style? How much worse do you want them to look?

So if you strike out another pitcher, do you still get credit for it in the box score?

Looks like Diamond is on track for 5 solid innings followed by a meltdown in the 6th.

The answer is it counts for half a strikeout, but the MLB refuses to round numbers to the nearest whole number, so it doesn't show up.

Are you sure it is going to take until the 6th for that meltdown to start?

You don't have to be paying much attention. You just hear Diamond has runners on and gave up a home run and you ask if it is the 5th or 6th. You pretty much know it will be one or the other.

Close, but, you're way off.

Kevin (stole from kids collecting for unicef) Slowey now the pitcher of record for the Marlins.

Diamond stays in the game to bat. Looks like he'll be allowed to have that 6th inning meltdown afterall.

Hey, the guy is getting better all the time. Pretty soon he'll be melting down in the 4th, then in the 3rd, etc.
