Vic Albury

Vic Albury was born in Sanford, Florida and played with the Twins from 1973 to 1976.

Albury signed with the Cleveland Indians as an amateur free agent in 1965. Albury spent several years developing his craft in the minor leagues before being traded to the Minnesota Twins in 1969.

Once in the Twins organization, the left-handed Albury worked his way through the minor league system, steadily improving and demonstrating his versatility on the mound. His dedication and perseverance paid off when he earned his call-up to the majors in 1973, marking the start of his MLB career with the Minnesota Twins.

Albury made his MLB debut on April 7, 1973, and quickly established himself as a reliable option for the Twins' pitching staff. Over the course of his career, he appeared in 110 games, starting 44 of them. He accumulated a career win-loss record of 18–17 and 4.11 ERA.

After leaving the Twins following the 1976 season, he retired from professional baseball.

I think Albury was moved to the Padres in 1969 as he pitched in their minor league system in '69 and '70. The Twins drafted him in the 1970 minor league draft.

It's hard to maintain a modern major league career if you walk more guys than you strikeout, but he did have a winning record of 18-17, so there is that.

My interest is piqued.  I'm a member of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) - if you know of it at all you might think it to be just a statistical group, but it's more about historical research than anything.  They have a Bio Project which aims to fill in the details beyond the numbers regarding major league players.  You can have a look at the project at  https://sabr.org/bioproject  - if you type in names of your father's teammates you'll find several of them have biographies already, and not just the big stars like Carew and Oliva and Blyleven and Bostock but also some of the guys like Disco Dan Ford or Steve Braun or Dave Goltz or Jerry Terrell.   It's a not-for-profit undertaking and these are not book-length bios, but they are significantly longer than the quick-start bios at Twins Daily, and go through a vetting/editing process to assure completeness and accuracy.  I see that your father passed away about 8 years ago (condolences - I bet you miss him greatly), which removes the possibility of getting first-hand accounts that help fill out a good bio with a bit of "color", but perhaps you have enough memories from the stories he told you to make something like this feasible.  This is just a whim on my part this morning based on you popping up like this, but if you are interested in collaborating, send me a note.

I was actually at the game for his major league debut , he pitched a couple of innings against Baltimore in relief   , we cheered him on  , what did he do after his baseball career  ????
