But I doubt he cares when the value of the Mets is exceeding those losses by significant margins. That's the dream owner for any sports fan. The difference is that if Cohen can build up the Mets he can make up the difference in revenue. The current difference is about 300 million a year. The Mets are not a vanity plaything.. there is no great revenue jump possibility for the Twins. The first clue of years there will e a sizeable depletion of player assets that would enable an increase in payroll. Wizard11 1
SteveLV Verified Member Posted January 17, 2025 Posted January 17, 2025 It sure would be nice if they had a framework of a deal sooner rather than later so the FO could get authorized to add some payroll before the start of the season instead of trying to do something theoretically at the trade deadline. Pete Alonso would sure look good manning 1B for the Twins.....

dxpavelka Verified Member Posted January 17, 2025 Posted January 17, 2025 Just for the record, the quickest any team has won a World Series after being sold in the last 20 years is 6 years.

That's one of those tidbits that means nothing. Especially seeing how 20 years ago the world series winners had just been bought two years prior. ashbury 1

The Pohlads have spread this propaganda that it's a small, undesirable market since 2000 when the patriarch was trying to kill the franchise. And propaganda works. The Pohlads have often confused me. Their choices of FO people have at times have been more than frustrating as a fan. People on this sight rip on the current FO but if you’d dive into how much has been accomplished since 2017, we are light years ahead of then.

I think it's going be ownership group made up of A-rod and marc lore few other people to buy the team I have feeling those two going back out sell the minority stake in the wolves back to taylor and go buy the twins A-rod and his minority owners including bloomberg may partner to buy it. They certainly have the money.
Russ Verified Member Posted January 18, 2025 Posted January 18, 2025 Glad there is the new owner speculation, otherwise there is not much to talk about I do wish there there more media outrage on the idle minded front office moves Other markets would be going ballistic

That's more than half. 6 of them have won championships since that ownership change. That's less than half of 16. Average time from ownership change to winning the World Series: 10 years. The rube base will turn on them long before 10 years.

This is all just a weird nothing stat that means squat. The Mets changed hands 5 years ago and have since won 100 games and went to the NLCS. Did they lose against the Dodgers because of some weird ownership quirk? Did the Twins buck some meaningful hinderence in 1987?
