Doctor Wu Verified Member Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 I always thought, or at least hoped, that Deduno would stick with the Twins. He was coming off a very impressive performance in that World Baseball Classic (not even sure if that's the correct name) and it looked like he was a good fit for the rotation. I know he had control issues, but what an arm! Can't remember why his tenure was so short. Was it an injury or something?

He had an interesting run for a season or so where he would show promise, then bottom out. I vaguely recall that at some point, he stopped showing promise and only bottomed out. nicksaviking and Doctor Wu 2

I remember thinking the same thing about Deduno, I thought he had some upside. But looking back on it, it was probably just due to the company he was keeping. That was some wretched starting pitching the Twins put together in that era. Cole DeVries, Scott Diamond, Nick Blackburn, PJ Walters, Liam Hendricks, Vance Worley (sorry Vanimal!), Mike Pelfrey, Pedro Hernandez and the husks for Francisco Liriano and Carl Pavano? Ouch, yeah, comparatively he did look pretty good! Brock Beauchamp and Danchat 2

bean5302 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 Always felt like Deduno had no place on a pitchers mound. The guy was always drilling batters high and inside due to his total lack of control. Practically a miracle he didn't end anybody's career.
strumdatjag Verified Member Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 Best thing to do when Deduno was on the team: Chant “Day-Doo-Noe” in response to the stupid canned Dayo cheer. Again - can somebody specifically explain the Dsyo cheer. What specifically are we cheering for or against?
