Sano: Preventing History

Recommended Posts

Miguel Sano hit his 15th and 16th HRs today. The All Star Break is just about to begin for him. The record for most HRs hit in a single season in the Florida State League is 33 which was set in 1971. He'd have a good shot to break it if he's there for the entire season, but obviously it's important to keep him progressing through the system. I think it's obvious that people here would move him up over some record, but how about a hypothetical question? Do you think he would break the single season record if he was able to play for the Miracle the rest of this season?

I think he'd break it, but to be fair, there have probably been a bunch of guys in Sano's position. Anyone on pace to break that record probably was in line for a promotion.

Won't happen, heading to AA according to Jon Heyman:

Reusse confirmed. The long national nightmare is over.

Sano heading to the nutmeg state. Awesome... If he plays well at AA... Might he be a September Call Up?

I doubt it. He isn't due to be put on the 40 man this offseason (I think), so he's not getting a September callup unless they plan on keeping him up permanently.

Is this the only move? Seems strange to make only one unless Nate Hanson got hurt or something. Hanson hasn't played well I guess but still seems like an odd movement. Unless the team plans on signing DeMuth and putting him right at Ft. Myers, though I'm guessing he's not a big enough deal to do that with and he's probably not walking away from his team in the CWS.

Yeah... I suppose...

Tho... I wonder If Plouffe heard that Giant Footstep behind him.

It was probably a Jurassic like ripple in Plouffes water glass.

Great move by the Twins. Acknowledgement that sometimes you just have to recognize some talent exceeds your "normal" plans. My guess is that Buxton moves now, too. Unless, of course, they plan to jump him 2 places after the all star break.

STrib reporting Angel Morales to AA as well.

Kennys Vargas has got to be feeling pretty left out right about now if he's not getting a plane ticket too.

Yeah. It's not like someone is blocking him at 1B in New Britain.

Wow I forgot about him! Man I really hope he gets moved up sometime this season too.

I would guess Vargas goes up as soon as Michael Gonzales is healthy.

Dalton(DJ) Hicks is more than ready to move up to FTM as well.

No reason he needs to stay there all year.

Move Hicks/Buxton to FTM. Get Vargas up to NB.

I pretty much lost all interest in the Miracle. Probably will only be looking for Duffey and Vargas. New Britain is dangerous with Sano, Rosario, Ortiz, Morales, Meyer, May, Pinto, Santana, and Baxendale! Hopefully Nate Roberts and Kennys Vargas soon. Maybe even Ryan Eades too.

Tough time to be a 24 year old hitting .265 in the Twin's minor league system right now. Or to be number 38-40 on the ML roster.
