Clevinger had a 12 million option he declined. He likely wants more than that. Nobody is willing to pay that.

the other perfectly good reason is given the Twins’ luck with past injured pitchers, is it worth the risk?

We tried Rich Hill several years ago, he wasn't good then. Clevenger's #'s were solid last year. What's not to like?

I'm not any more interested in Rich Hill than I am Clevenger, but Rich Hill was good with the Twins. Quite good in fact. His problem was that he was injured and only got 8 starts.

If there's a problem, the Twins can swing an unconventional early year trade. I'm not concerned right now.

None of that may wow you, but there is some depth. 

I think it's pretty far fetched to believe in Winder as a starter at this point. It seems the workload is way too hard on his shoulder given his propensity for shoulder issues and now stress fractures, and his stuff needs to get back to where it was a couple years ago for him to be a bullpen piece now. I think he's a long shot to keep his 40 man roster spot all year.
