stringer bell Verified Member Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 The report referred to Gordon as a switch hitter and assumed he would be on the Twins' Opening Day roster. One part is incorrect and the other is premature (IMHO). jkcarew, ashbury, Craig Arko and 1 other 4
ashbury Verified Member Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Not surprised. While the dollar difference is minor in absolute terms, speaking of folks at the MLB level of course, it still seemed to me his agent had given him bad advice when the figures came out a few weeks ago. The inability to even split the difference (which teams often do when they think the player's submitted value is at least arguable), and then to lose in arbitration, would suggest to me that a change in representation is called for. jkcarew and Oldgoat_MN 2

Jocko87 Verified Member Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Gordon's arbitration journey kinda parallels his journey as a player. He's got some surprising pop when he gets into one but he's not a power hitter. I get the feeling he thinks of himself as a power threat just as he seems to think his arbitration value is that of an injured star rather than role player. I don't know what happened to his defensive versatility but he's in the unfortunate spot of true AAAA player. He'll need to make some adjustments to stick with another team, much less the Twins. He's neither a switch hitter nor utility man. Doctor Gast and ashbury 2
