Everyone seems to think MAT was horrible last year and would rather play Gordon and Martin over bringing him back. Castro was decent in center last year but I prefer him as a super utility and speed guy in late innings.

The whole “he can’t pitch this year” thought should be enough for any rational person to not want to trade for him, unless they are giving him away. Doubt this would be the case!

Uncertainty going forward with any guy coming off surgery…….one missed year, one “tender” year is not how we want to improve the Club.

Trading Buxton for anyone doesn’t happen, unfortunately.

I do think that the “Buxton can’t hit unless he plays CF” is way overstated by many here. He couldn’t hit because he was hurt & couldn’t even play CF at 29 years old. Nobody hits well if their legs aren’t working. IMO, he plays CF once a week - twice a week maybe a couple times per month. DH’s 80 games and that’s what the new reality will be.

Am hopeful he can pull off the above, if he can actually start 110-120 games it would be his second time over 100 games in what will be his 10th year.

On what plane of consciousness is your crazy proposal sending EROD with Polanco and Kiriloff to the Marlins for Bell and Arreaz happening? You want to include a guy that is a top 50 and probably on his way to top 15 status barring health this year, who is an absolute stud, for a slap hitter with no position(here in MN) who is about to get really expensive in arb and a journeyman 1b that you can find on every trash heap laying around come March. No thanks. ERod should only be traded if it is part of a deal to grab a number 1 or 2 SP. I love Walker and Lee, but my eyeballs and gut tell me that he is going to be special at the MLB level. And soon. He is 20 and at AA, plus plays a position of extreme need. I pray Buxton can hold up, but I highly doubt that scenario plays out. So he becomes even more valuable. Plus speed, plus arm and plus plus power. Total stud. Do not trade. He will be part of this insane young core coming up together right now.
