Parfigliano Verified Member Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Anyone care? Anyone watching?
ashbury Verified Member Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Just tuned in. "0-0, good, I haven't missed anything." I fired up mlb.com to check the box score, and found that the TV is a batter and a half behind the online feed. Guess I'll close that window and watch the delayed live feed. Anything interesting in the first inning?

Rooting interest tonight? Me, I probably should be rooting for AZ since my nearest AAA team is their affiliate, but I haven't been a good fan and only get to a game or two a year because I like the atmosphere of the ballpark, which means I basically missed Corbin Carroll when he was here for 20 minutes a year or two ago. I'm pretty happy with the matchup and will consider either one to be a worthy champion despite both being wild cards, and I am looking forward to a good Series. Liking the defense I've seen. After that, I favor the American League but really just want to see good baseball. There have already been a few nice plays. Seager deep in the hole and Jung dive for a hot ground ball down the line were sweet. Moreno didn't miss his pitch for HR. Pham took a big cut before guiding an outside pitch down the right field line for a double. I like that the Diamondbacks use all types of baseball in any inning. They are a little unpredictable. The Rangers seem like they have more talent. Finally, i saw that tickets are going for thousands. The economy is kicking hot when people can pay $5K to watch a sport. ashbury Verified Member Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Just saw another incredible play by the Dbacks first baseman. Barehanded the bad hop off the bag. Not a lot of teams being given 4 outs in an inning by their opponent. Pretty much holds true for the entire post-season, IMO. Blyleven2011 1

tony&rodney Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Jung needed to get that hot grounder. AZ puts pressure on all the time and still finds moments to take big swings. No Ks for D-Backs into the 7th inning.

tony&rodney Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 D-Backs are putting on a show on how to put the ball in play. Merrill Kelly had the Texas bats all tied up tonight throwing everything on the corners and across the bottom of the strike zone; pretty impeccable control. tony&rodney Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 I guess the D Backs know how to turn a close game into a whooping without grand slams. On to Phoenix. I guess I'll take the dock out tomorrow.

tony&rodney Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 This year the Twins used the safety squeeze a few times. The difference between Arizona and Minnesota from my vantage point is that all of the D Backs have clearly spent time working on bunting, whereas the Minnesota team has more than a few players who look totally out of it when they attempted to bunt. Players can become accomplished at bunting by putting 5 minutes per day (six days a week) into the practice. I'm not an advocate for frequent bunting but there are times when it is the best method of scoring runs and putting pressure on an opponent. The skill of bunting simply needs to be an available tool. CRF Verified Member Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 I like to watch the D'Backs play. Pretty much old school ball...what I grew up on. I wish the Twins did more of that. Anyone's series right now. Nice to see some different teams...I just wish WE were one of the different teams. Longdistancetwins and ashbury 2
mikelink45 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 I am loving it. Why not enjoy - it is baseball and if we love the Twins we should love the game. I do not need NY or LA to make the games enjoyable. I love watching the young AZ team with speed and determination. Kelly pitched a wonderful game last night. Marte and his 18 game post season hit streak is amazing. And Corbin Carroll is a wonderful player to watch. I love their attitude and they are the team I am rooting for. AL - NL does not matter I like teams that I enjoy most. But on the Texas side I love seeing Garver, but even more the young catcher that took his position away and Seager is amazing - it begs the question of which of the many SS that were available for the highest bidder two years ago are really worth the most - I put Seagar number one, then Turner, Semien is at 2B or would be number 3. Correa 4? or is it Lindor or Bogaerts for 4th. Swanson and Story on the bottom of the list. Sorry, but I do not even consider Simmons and Baez to be part of the discussion. ashbury and Blyleven2011 2

Arizona for me , but a competitive 7 game series is also important to me and i think we will have one ... Good analysis of both teams , I like good baseball games that are entertaining to watch and this has been some very good baseball games on defense in playoffs and world series ... The heart breaker for Arizona in game 1 was a good comeback for Texas , game 2 was a pitchers duel for 6 innings and then Arizona struck in the 7th , 8th and 9th innings with runs the old fashioned way and put the game away ... Both games were great suspense and glad the series is tied 1 game apiece going to Arizona ... Sure hope FO and Rocco are learning something ... mikelink45 1
