markos Provisional Member Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Is anyone else following the New Britain - Bowie game tonight on MILB.com? Currently, it shows that Alex Meyer has completed 5 innings, but has only thrown 33 pitches with not a single pitch called a ball, and has 8 strikeouts. This is almost beyond belief.

No balls thrown means no walks, practically... <sad face> I guess I'm not following a historic night. <sad face/> Regardless of the pitch count and ball deception, it looks like Meyer is pitching very well tonight, so that is exciting.
Ncgo4 Verified Member Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 6.1 innings 10 K's, 2 BB's, 1 ER, 48 pitches per box score. Doesn't seem possible. If only 3 pitches on K's & 4 on BB's that's 38 pitches. Leaves 10 pitches for 8 more outs plus 2 hits. Some kinda efficiency. Also Buxton not in lineup tonight, injury? Rest?
InfraRen Provisional Member Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Awesome. He's gonna be a good one.
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Why was he taken out with only 48 pitches?

kab21 Verified Member Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 The pitch count had to be wrong obviously. I have seen this before in the minors boxscores. Even the opposing pitcher is only at 40 pitches and he threw 6 innings. We won't have to wait too long for Meyer but I'm not sure if we will see him this year. I hope so though.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Love to see a few more starts like that. I think he'll be sent to AAA before the majors but I could be wrong.
