Keuchel over Paddack in the Pen.
Ober over Stewart in the Pen
Maeda and Ryan will be interchangeable

Past performance means nothing.  Health and matchups are the key.

I can't see Keuchel on the playoff roster.  I think Ober could be in, but not instead of Stewart.

Catching is a very important position  and it was stated that Jeffers is a better catcher ....

I'd have to disagree that Jeffers is the better defensive catcher , hitter yes ,  but defense  no ...

Vasquez  has the defense covered and if his bat contributes that is a plus ...

Jeffers as a pinch hitter later in the game suits me , he has been a good pinch hitter  , Vasquez not so much  , if you use Vasquez as a pinch hitter later in the game you just wasted his value to the team ...

Roster will be what it will be , out of my hands , yes there are players I like and players I don't like  , it's FO and roccos decisions for the playoff roster  and nobody is happy all the time  ...

Go Twins,  clinch the game tonight at home  ....

I would compare our young core more to the '84 Twins than the '87 Twins.... the talent is there but there still needs to be development to seriously compete for championships

People definitely 'knew' that Puckett, Hrbek, Gaetti, Burnansky, and Viola were good in '87 but less so in '84 when they came close to the playoffs.

What people also 'knew' in 1987 was that the Twins 3rd pitcher was a guy named Les Straker and they had exactly 2 talented bullpen arms... one of which was not exactly known for his command/control (Senior Smoke ring a bell for anyone?)

The '87 Twins were built better for the post season than the regular season by a long shot

Yes, they may be closer to the ‘84 stage than the ‘87 stage. That’s why I’m not suggesting a WS championship this year as a litmus test. We’ll see.

And FWIW, Detroit’s #3 was Walt Terrell.

They got hot at the right moment, but it wasn't because their players were, career-wise, so much better than the Tigers.

Did I say they were SO much better? AT THAT POINT in their careers, the Twins core was at least as good as the Tigers. That’s my point. It didn’t matter that they didn’t have playoff experience…they had very good players. Detroit was the team that had been ‘hot’ and was about to face reality…not just in the 87 series, but for the years ahead.

Evans was never the same, and he was historically bad in the series. They started Doyle Alexander…the definition of a “got hot” guy if ever there was one. He was bludgeoned (twice). We started the guy who would win the Cy Young the following year. Gibson was already a shadow of his former self. That Tigers group won 88 games the next year…the Twins won 91, and went 11-1 against Detroit doing it. 11-1. The year after that the Tigers lost 103 games. They were done. The Twins had better players in the 87 series, they just hadn’t proven they knew how to win yet.
