great article on fangraphs on Milwaukee and trying to figure out why their stars and scrubs approach is not working, it's instructional, imo, for everyone that says that those last few spots on the roster don't matter.....oh ya, win twins.

Much better lineup for the Brewers tonight. Braun, Ramirez, Lucroy, Weeks. Gardy chooses to let it ride, same lineup featuring Doumit in RF so Diamond needs to get back to his high GB% game tonight- his FB% has jumped sharply of late.

 

As far as the offense, the Twins hitters have a tendency to make unknown, first-seen, rookies look good the first time they face them.

Can someone explain why Parmelee is not playing OF vs a right handed pitcher? What is more important than finding out if Chris can hit or not? Does the team have an actual plan for building for the future?*

 

*feel free to take these are rhetorical, or not, your choice....

It appears Gardy has jiggled this lineup a few times (last Thursday, yesterday, for example) on the road trip with the specific intent of manufacturing a win that Gardy could put his signature upon.

 

In answer to your question about future-building, for Gardy, the future is now!

LOL. Great point of irony, indeed! Still, look at 1-5 in their order...name one guy you wouldn't want in place of the current Twin counterpart.

That would be the question of the night for Gardy, I think.

 

My hope is a lead of any size in the 6th inning, in which a single by Doumit is followed by Escobear as runner, and then Parms as the (who would have guessed this phrase coming into the season?) defensive replacement.

I know why Dozier is batting second. Gardenhire doesn't want a lineup ending with Hicks, Dozier, Florimon, Diamond. Now, let's grant him that for a second . . . why Dozier instead of Florimon? Now it is stupid to grant him that, though. I would keep Mauer within two batters of the sacrificial pitcher, for one thing. And, Dozier's offense is terrible yada, yada, yada.

How about an order ending with Hicks, Escobar, Diamond, and give Florimon a try at the 2-spot, if Gardy is so dead-set on returning Mauer to #3?
