stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Smalley saying that pitching has improved of late. I think he's right. Most teams, except the Twins seem to have at least a couple decent starters, a good eighth inning guy and a closer. The Twins haven't kept up with the "arms race", as demonstrated by their rotation.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Giving up on a kid like that just didn't make sense... He was just a young, slightly goofy, anti-Twins Way, ball player. Fixed. And losing both players associated in these transactions will forever be a butt-sized burrs in the Twins saddle.
glunn Community Moderator Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Man, I go away a couple of weeks, and you guys let the team fall apart. Second worst record in the league? So far, my return to civilization has the Twins doing OK this game; other than the home run Correia looks like he's cruising along in his classic not-actually-cruising-but-getting-it-done fashion. Welcome back John. It's not as much fun when you are absent.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Liriano got semi-rocked. And yeah, watching Doumit play in the OF is borderline enough for me to switch fan allegiance. Good god, please stop playing him out there.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 He had his first bad game today, after 3 very good ones coming back from the DL.IIRC, Liriano was facing some of the dregs of MLB. He got the Tigers at Comerica and wasn't dominating.

Nothing a little Vasoline can't cure.

Now I know how Correia has survived this long in the bigs, Asbury. You may have missed it, but KC mentioned to Gardy a little arm stiffness late last week, conveniently requiring him to miss his scheduled start against the Tigers on Saturday.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 IIRC, Liriano was facing some of the dregs of MLB. He got the Tigers at Comerica and wasn't dominating. Not the first time Frankie had a bad game against the Tigers, either.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Welcome back John. It's not as much fun when you are absent. I call him Ashbury... Like "Greetings from Ashbury Park". "Greetings from the John" just doesn't do it for me.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 KC mentioned to Gardy a little arm stiffness late last week, conveniently requiring him to miss his scheduled start against the Tigers on Saturday. This probably is what is meant by "crafty veteran who knows how to pitch".

Good god, please stop playing him out there. How about Gardy's other slap in the face at common sense by moving the 2nd Baseman back to the 2-hole in the order? Gardy will no doubt take credit that his "old skool" machinations were responsible for the Dozier awakened bat as represented by his powerful 45-foot single.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Back to back. Can Correia get through six?
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Jiggs up Kev, and if Mauer calls for that cutter again he should be fined!
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I call him Ashbury... Like "Greetings from Ashbury Park". "Greetings from the John" just doesn't do it for me. The Talking Heads wisely didn't publish a song called Take Me To The Brian, either.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 When Gomez is locked in, he has such a pretty power swing. It's just ruthless.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Who says Anderson can't coach?....
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Fixed. And losing both players associated in these transactions will forever be a butt-sized burrs in the Twins saddle. To me... It was the Dark Ages. A little Plaque... Migration... Getting Conquered... I was looking around for the return of Charlemagne.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I call him Ashbury... Like "Greetings from Ashbury Park". "Greetings from the John" just doesn't do it for me. LOL. Sadly, your very clever reference is likely lost on at least half of the crowd on TD, who think "The Boss" is just that fascist swine that signs his weekly paycheck.

Sadly, your very clever reference is likely lost on at least half of the crowd on TD, who think "The Boss" is just that fascist swine that signs his weekly paycheck. Hopefully my earlier reply indicates that at least this old geezer got it.

ashbury Verified Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I guess Correia comes out to begin the 7th. The Twins bats are looking like KC and then the bullpen are going to have to make this one-run lead last; thank goodness for the two "insurance runs" in the 5th.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 And who think Manfred Mann wrote "Blinded by the light". Wrapped up like a douche.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 And who think Manfred Mann wrote "Blinded by the light".Hey, that little bit of trivia has won me several drinks, a nice dinner and ten bucks.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Another HR by Mauer? I can live with the increased SO if this keeps up.

The herd can be culled furthur by those who don't notice the superflous "H"
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Wrapped up like a douche. Easy now, the kids, remember the kids.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Both are healthy and Joe Mauer has twice as many homers as Justin Morneau on May 28.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Wrapped up like a douche. I told someone that it was originally written "Revved up like a Deuce". He looked at me and said seriously. "that makes no sense". Apparently "Wrapped up like a Douche" does tho.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 The herd can be culled furthur by those who don't notice the superflous "H" Yeah, mine is spelt like the district in San Francisco. Haighters gotta Haight.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Both are healthy and Joe Mauer has twice as many homers as Justin Morneau on May 28. That's Fine... I'm more concerned with Morneau having as many homers as Escobar.
Eduardo Tait Cedar Rapids Kernels - A+ C On Thursday, the 19-year-old went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Cedar Rapids. That gives him nine homers this season. Explore Eduardo Tait News >
