Smalley saying that pitching has improved of late. I think he's right. Most teams, except the Twins seem to have at least a couple decent starters, a good eighth inning guy and a closer. The Twins haven't kept up with the "arms race", as demonstrated by their rotation.

Giving up on a kid like that just didn't make sense... He was just a young, slightly goofy, anti-Twins Way, ball player.

Fixed. And losing both players associated in these transactions will forever be a butt-sized burrs in the Twins saddle. :banghead:

Man, I go away a couple of weeks, and you guys let the team fall apart. Second worst record in the league?

So far, my return to civilization has the Twins doing OK this game; other than the home run Correia looks like he's cruising along in his classic not-actually-cruising-but-getting-it-done fashion.

Welcome back John. It's not as much fun when you are absent.

Liriano got semi-rocked.

And yeah, watching Doumit play in the OF is borderline enough for me to switch fan allegiance. Good god, please stop playing him out there.

He had his first bad game today, after 3 very good ones coming back from the DL.
IIRC, Liriano was facing some of the dregs of MLB. He got the Tigers at Comerica and wasn't dominating.

Nothing a little Vasoline can't cure.

Now I know how Correia has survived this long in the bigs, Asbury. You may have missed it, but KC mentioned to Gardy a little arm stiffness late last week, conveniently requiring him to miss his scheduled start against the Tigers on Saturday.

Not the first time Frankie had a bad game against the Tigers, either.

I call him Ashbury... Like "Greetings from Ashbury Park".

"Greetings from the John" just doesn't do it for me.

This probably is what is meant by "crafty veteran who knows how to pitch".

How about Gardy's other slap in the face at common sense by moving the 2nd Baseman back to the 2-hole in the order? Gardy will no doubt take credit that his "old skool" machinations were responsible for the Dozier awakened bat as represented by his powerful 45-foot single.

The Talking Heads wisely didn't publish a song called Take Me To The Brian, either.

To me... It was the Dark Ages. A little Plaque... Migration... Getting Conquered... I was looking around for the return of Charlemagne.

LOL. Sadly, your very clever reference is likely lost on at least half of the crowd on TD, who think "The Boss" is just that fascist swine that signs his weekly paycheck.

Hopefully my earlier reply indicates that at least this old geezer got it.

And who think Manfred Mann wrote "Blinded by the light".

I guess Correia comes out to begin the 7th. The Twins bats are looking like KC and then the bullpen are going to have to make this one-run lead last; thank goodness for the two "insurance runs" in the 5th.

Wrapped up like a douche.

I told someone that it was originally written "Revved up like a Deuce". He looked at me and said seriously. "that makes no sense".

Apparently "Wrapped up like a Douche" does tho.

Both are healthy and Joe Mauer has twice as many homers as Justin Morneau on May 28.

That's Fine... I'm more concerned with Morneau having as many homers as Escobar.
