Put yourself in the manager's position after 2 outs in the 8th inning of an early season game in your new starter's 3rd start of the year. Your managing a team with a deep starting staff that may be the strength of a team that has a chance to make some noise over the long haul. Even though your staff is leading the league in innings pitched you don't want to push it too hard. This new starter looks like he could be making a move to the next level to become the staff ace the team has been missing for decades. You think to yourself, my guy is at 98 pitches. I've got a proven weapon for the lefty matchup on deck. What would be the long term benefit of pushing this most valuable asset to the limit and beyond?

How cool that Johan is in the clubhouse showing his change to the young pitchers I will continue to believe that if Johan had not been traded, he’s sailing in to the Hall of Fame as a Twin (maybe going in alongside Joe.)
