I remember all of that. But you're trying to tie that to over extending Bundy and Archer. That's the disconnect. (#1) You're claiming the bullpen fiasco caused Bundy and Archer to both be over extended before the end of April.

You've chosen the timeframe. It's April. The Twins bullpen threw 84.2 innings in April of 2022. (#2) That was 16th fewest in baseball. They'd had 65 appearances. That was the 2nd fewest in the entire league. Your argument doesn't follow the actual happenings of the season. That's my point.

(#1) no I'm not, I'm claiming at & after the end of April which makes more sense. Maybe I didn't make myself clear.

(#2) or 14th most innings and remember we had 7 SPs in April.

Carlos Rodon threw 178 innings last year. That was 32nd most in all of major league baseball. That wasn't "beyond his profile?"

and Carlos Rodon averaging just over 5.5 innings in 2021 was too much for him, but averaging 5.75, and throwing the 32nd most innings in baseball, in 2022 was within "his profile." Yeah, not of that tracks.

To reiterate, Rodon was able  pitched 178 in 31 games  in '22 precisely because he was pitched inside his profile. When you pitched inside your profile you don't bottom out after being over extended & you are injured less often & for shorter time, resulting in more games pitched & more innings.

To get a better picture of Rodon '21, you need to look at his 2 halves. 1st half he pitched 96.2 inning  over 16 games. With 1 complete game & 9 games he pitched over 5 innings. 2nd half he pitched only 36 innings over 8 games which never pitched over 5 innings. The 2nd half is the result of being over extended from the 1st half. Yearly totals, 96.2 + 36 = 132.2 innings, 16 + 8 = 24 games.

Comparing his over extended '21 to '22, we see that Rodon pitched 7 more games and 45.8 more innings.

Still Rodon is very close in being an ace & it was big mistake that CWS let him go & many teams didn't sign him.

Sorry but I am not a fan of Mahle at all. I think Ober is the best of the 3 though he needs more innings. Maeda seems to do well during his first 1-2 seasons on a club then he falters. Remember he wasn't a starter until he came to the Twins. In today's game, all you need is 5-6 solid innings (sad to say) and a solid bullpen. Let's hope we are good enough.

Maeda started 32 games his first season with the Dodgers. He started at least 20 games all 4 years there, and was over 25 starts in 3 of those seasons. He was a starter before he came to the Twins.
