Could twins go after Swanson?

Eh, depends on long of a deal. Maybe he'd do a short deal like Correa did last year if he finds nothing of his liking. He's OK with the bat, but those strikeout numbers keep climbing. That's going to be an issue and a burr under the saddle for many fans once people start noticing that it's a real problem.

To be honest I don't see him as a big enough upgrade to Kyle Farmer to make the $$$ worth it. In 2021 they had pretty similar seasons.  Sure, Swanson is better, and younger, but you could make an arguable bigger upgrade to the team in pitching with a lot less money. Example: Daniel Robertson or Nathan Eovaldi, or of course Rodon.

To be fair, Rodon will cost more money than Swanson. I assume you mean David Robertson, and yes, he'd be less than half the AAV as Swanson, but I find it basically impossible to believe that 60ish relief innings are a bigger upgrade to a team than 160 games of gold glove defense at short, not to mention the offense (which Swanson isn't great at, for what it's worth). And Nathan Eovaldi is a 33 year old pitcher who's made 30 starts in a season twice in 11 seasons. Not sure adding another super high injury risk arm who isn't a true number 1 to this roster is a bigger upgrade than Swanson either.

In summary, Eovaldi and Robertson would be cheaper, but not bigger upgrades. And Rodon is going to be more expensive, but a bigger upgrade.

Yes, true, Rodon is going to get a huge deal. I'm not sure I'm in favor of signing Eovaldi either. But I don't see Swanson in 2023 as 2-3 wins better than Kyle Farmer, or Royce Lewis once he returns from injury. Swanson is definitely a great defender but Farmer is pretty good there as well.

I think Swanson is going to get a deal well above what he'll be worth so I'd prefer they spend elsewhere if they miss on Correa, but Robertson and Eovaldi would be quite underwhelming to me. It feels pretty "Correa or bust" right now for any sort of real impact signing. Which is unfortunate because I'd guess SF goes above what the Twins will. Not sure where else they spend money to really impact the team at this point. Crossing my fingers for a nice surprise or 2, though!

I just don't know where else they spend money that really changes the team.....the remaining FAs aren't AWESOME YOU NEED TO SIGN ME. Other than CC and maybe Swanson (but I think he'll provide too many years of less than star level play).
