MLBTR: White Sox sign Clevinger

Is going to the White Sox. He isn't a top end starter any more, but he's a good back of the rotation guy. A decent move by the pale hose.

I don't want the White Sox to get useful players, but I had no interest.

The Twins don't need to fill in the back of the rotation, I'd rather go with whomever is healthy among the Maeda/Mahle/Ober/Winder/Varland/SWR crowd than a guy like Clevinger. I'm sure they will sign some AAAA vet they can stick in St. Paul all summer in case of an emergency, but otherwise, they should only be looking at starters who can slot in above Gray and Ryan. From my estimation, there's only two or three of those such free agents this year.

The Chicago White Sox and RHP Mike Clevinger have reportedly agreed on a one-year, $8M deal. Per Scott Merkin of MLB.com, this deal also has a mutual 2024 option worth $12M, with a $4M buyout.

Clevinger underwent Tommy John Surgery, causing him to miss the entirety of 2021. Upon his return in 2022, he posted a 4.33 ERA in 114.1 IP through 23 appearances.

Fairly certain those two or three won't be signing here.

Then I wouldn't sweat it, because guys like Clevenger do nothing except give us reason to complain about how they need to cut him before the calendar turns to June.

I was hoping I wouldn't ever see that ******* windup again. Just another reason to hate the White Sox.

And the LAST thing we (the Twins fan base) needs is a reason to complain.
