Twins' AAA roster announced

Mostly AAA filler, some up and comers (Gibson, Arcia) and a couple of surprises. As thrylos said there are a lot of guys on the DL as well. There isn't much talent in the middle infield and the pitching could produce some results.

Meanwhile word out of Hartford (via the Currant) is that Meyer, May, Hermsen (in DL and will stay in Fort Myers for 2 weeks with a strained oblique) and Pinto are all in the Rock Cats' roster. Official roster for AA has not been posted yet.

At least there's some consistency with the major league club!....Oops, not a good thing in this instance....

10 pitchers on the Roc. DL? Is that some kind of record, or is that just where you hide the filler replacements when the sore-armed active-rostered pitchers inevitably break down?

Any word of any additional minor league cuts or will they just stuff them away on the DL?

Evan Bigley & Bobby Lanigan sent back to AA for noboby retreads tho.

Hung-Yi Chen, Jason Lane, Scott Elarton and Ricardo Arevalo were the latest releases that I have heard of...

other than Vasquez, I think the rest are legit......will fake it often to keep a player/make a roster move

I have been checking the Cedar Rapids / Fort Meyers website almost daily looking for rosters, but so far have not seen them. I am excited to learn the destination of the pitchers from '12 class.

Opening day is just a few days away, so I am surprised these are not finalized. Don't the players need to know where they will be living?

I found this interesting:

Ranked as the best defensive catcher in the Twins system, C Chris Herrmann will make his Triple-A debut with the Red Wings this season. A 2012 Eastern League midseason All-Star with New Britain, Herrmann received his first taste of the Major Leagues with a September call-up last year (1-for-18 in 7 games). The Twins 6th round pick in 2009 out of the University of Miami established career highs in runs scored (91), hits (136), doubles (25), home runs (10) and RBI (62) last season while throwing out 44% (27 of 61) of potential base stealers - tops in the EL.

I heard the Twins were really not happy with Herrmann's defense in spring. So surprised to hear he ranks as the best defensive catcher.

I get the impression that one of the "joys" of professional baseball is you sometimes don't get much advance notice of that. Being traded, called up, sent down, all happen without time to prepare for the transition. My guess is they're still sorting out the rosters a little, although most of the players probably know informally where they are going. I think they also have staffers to help with the transition once they break minor league camp and disperse to their respective destinations.

Cedar Rapids would be the fun place. Have to establish residencies and such. Don't the Twins have dorms in Ft. Myers...so those guys really don't have to go far. New Britain has people players can stay with.

Note that the Twins roster just got finalized today when they added Wilkin Ramirez to the 40 man roster. Burnett was lost, which opened up a AAA spot that Albers took. Someone went to NB that would have been in FM, and so on. They waited to add Ramirez because they were likely watching the waiver wire and considering trades, etc.

I believe rosters will be available by tomorrow morning sometime. Maybe afternoon. As soon as I get them, I'll be sure to pass them along.

That is just not true. He probably is the best defensive catcher at LF. If I had to pick the best defensive C in the Twins organization right now, it will have to be Danny Lehmann. Of course he cannot hit, but his defense is truly superb. Not "Butera good"...

One of the plusses from affiliating with Cedar Rapids is that all of the players will be living with host families. I read that only a few had that type of arrangement in Beloit. So there is no searching for housing, etc.

They might have dorms or use the local Hilton Garden Suites but I know that a few of the players stay with host families, Miguel Sano is one of them as well as Eddie Rosario.
