Well he was a top 100 prospect as recently as last year. He plays 3B and while I don't believe he is a standout defensively, I've never heard about him needing to move positions. The nice aspect about his game is he does bat left handed, which the Twins were looking for to complement Plouffe. The unfortunate aspect is his bat took a step beck last season. He clearly needs more minor league seasoning.

This article suggests that his defense is not great and that he has been struggling to hit for more power. This article suggests that he suffered from "poor plate discipline and an alarming number of strikeouts in 2012."

Even so, I hope that Twins give him a close look. He was a highly touted prospect. With a change of scene, maybe he could turn out to be a solid third baseman, and Plouffe has been somewhat injury prone.

Or simply to platoon with Plouffe if he continues to have troubles with right-handers.

I believe he has one option left after signing a major league contract coming out of the draft. If that is the case, he is more likely to be useful to the club in 2014 than some on the 40 man roster. Drew Butera and Tim Wood should be considered.

Projectprospect nailed Zack Cox before the draft. Surprisingly I found the article. There was more discussion that I think talked about him lowering his K rate during the season but not hitting for any power and how that didn't project well. It's too bad the projectprospect team screwed up their community by ignoring the forums and going to twitter.

Quick note on Zack Cox, the draft-eligible sophomore third baseman for the University of Arkansas, who many project as a top 10 pick: He struck out in 29.1% of his plate appearances last year for the Razorbacks. His tool set is impressive and he should have plenty of defensive value, but his contact rate was horrible – granted it was his freshman year.

Imo Cox remained high in prospect rankings due to pre-draft rankings. He was never very good in the minors and if he got DFA's by the Marlins he probably has very little value.
