Which WAR are you using?

bWAR -> 2.5 for Scherzer, 1.8 for Berrios.

With fWAR's reliance on xFIP, I would be surprised if fWAR is not showing an even bigger difference.  (Although anything is possible -- there's a reason fangraphs is not my first stop for info.)

I think Sherzer is better....but Berrios is cheaper AND signed thru next year....that's a big delta for a team giving up good to great prospects (which teams seem very reticent to do anymore).

But, if I'm going for it, I want Max more. If I'm more aiming for the next two years, I want Jose more.

Depends.  If I was already on pace for 100 wins and just want to get the ring, I'd go with Scherzer for sure.  If I want to solidify my rotation for the year and upgrade the back of my rotation for a couple of years, Berrios is a nice option.
