Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Clearly Rocco give a fiery speech before the game, as I’ve been told that’s what helps scores runs... ok, sorry, you get my point.
wavedog Verified Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 That is what we call a Cave single - a good at bat when you can reach on a swinging strike-out
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 If it wasn't for the home plate umpire I don't think Cave reaches there
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Does reaching on a strikeout increase your OBP? I feel like it should.
TwinsFanSince86 Verified Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 How about now? Let's add Cruz to the exempt list. I'm not going to bag on the team or the poster. Bottom line, they've looked listless, flat and gutless. Doesn't mean it stays that way. But the sample size thus far has been piss poor. Let's hope this inning or game turn it around.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 I mean, to be fair, you don't know if that's true any more than I do.Hence...unfounded..... If you have no idea it is true, why accuse them of it? They've worked hard their whole lives to get here. They've dreamed about winning it all since they were kids. Can you offer any evidence to back your accusation at all?
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Does reaching on a strikeout increase your OBP? I feel like it should.I believe that it's treated like an error, which would be appropriate in my view.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Given recent history, I don't like the Twins chances in a shootout...
cHawk Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 When we lead, we forget how to pitch. A recurring theme.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Maeda is throwing som spicy meat up there and it’s getting handled appropriately
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Gameday shows Maeda peppering the heart of the plate. I'm not an expert, but that seems like a poor strategy.

wavedog Verified Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 I did enjoy the few minutes of our lead.
wavedog Verified Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 OK, this is just sad Maeda is throwing batting practice
bighat Verified Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Twins go up by 1 run. Oakland goes up by 2 runs. Twins go up by 1 run. Oakland goes up by 3 runs. One team is out there to try and hang on, another one is out there for blood.

This isn't your first time here. You know people get hyperbolic. The point I was making is that there a fair number of Twins players who look like they're completely going through the motions. Has anyone slammed a bat or helmet? Destroyed something in the dugout? Anything that indicates they're sick and tired of not just losing, but losing in completely ineffectual and embarrassing fashion?

bighat Verified Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Donaldson stays healthy and he's going to fetch some return in July. JD for Gio Urshela and a handful of Yankees top pitching prospects?
Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 The Twins have one win since April 8. They are 1-8 since then, and have been outscored 47-21 in those 9 games; average score? 5.2 to 2.3. This is not a team just falling short here and there. They are getting worked.

A 35 year old still owed $50M after this year with a long history of leg problems that can strike at any time will not fetch much of anything at the deadline.
