dave_dw Verified Member Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 There is a pretty good chance that Beloit Snappers will start the season fielding Eddie Rosario at 2B, Levi Michael at SS, and Miguel Sano at 3B. It's a great year to live near a Midwest League team. If these guys are playing, I know I'll be going out to see it any chance I get.
Jeremy Nygaard Twins Daily Contributor Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 With Gonzalez repeating already and Vargas suspended, there is a big question mark surrounding who will be playing first base. The rest of the infield should be stacked though.
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I think that Michael will start in E-town. Never played a single pro game yet... You should probably add Kennys Vargas 1B in the equation, he will be very good in Beloit this season.

righty8383 Verified Member Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Division 1 baseball is comparable to rookie ball and Michael has 3 years there. That and being a 1st round pick means there is no way he is playing rookie ball.

Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I say let Michael jump in with both feet. If he's not cutting it by the time E-Town is starting up, you can send him back there. My guess is he would do just fine in Beloit.
Steve Lein Twins Daily Contributor Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 There's no way they hold Levi Michael back for 3 months waiting for Elizabethtown's season to start. Beloit is most likely, but I wouldn't be surprised if he starts in Fort Myers either.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 1.) No way that Michael goes to E-Town. I was actually somewhat surprised to keep hearing he'll likely go to Beloit. I would have guessed Ft. Myers until Terry Ryan mentioned him as a Beloit candidate. As for 1B at Beloit, they'll go with Rory Rhodes and Roy Larson.
jtrinaldi Provisional Member Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Wait...Michael got suspended? Herd he will start in AA Beloits team is gonna be awesome considering that they will likely Goodrum and Kepler in June or July
Mr. Ed Provisional Member Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Vargas is suspended. Michael/Gonzales should start either in FM or in AA. Levi Michael better start in A ball. No reason not to. Dozier started in Eliz because....I'm not sure why, but he did.
righty8383 Verified Member Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 [ Dozier started in Eliz because....I'm not sure why, but he did. Where he was drafted makes a difference. Dozier was drafted in the 8th round.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Dozier actually started with the GCL Twins and played about 6 games with them before moving up to E-Town.

If these guys are playing, I know I'll be going out to see it any chance I get.I've been planning on making trips to Beloit since the end of last season. Will probably also try to line up some games with them in other ballparks. QuadCities is a nice park to watch the Snappers play in.This team should be fun to follow.

Dozier started in Eliz because....I'm not sure why, but he did.Eh, guys who excel in college ball, including playing in the college world series, really don't need to play in rook ball. But I see why Dozier did, because theTwins had all their other teams set, post draft. Which is why Levi, who didn't play last summer, really doesn't need to play rook ball. Way more polished than that. I think Dozier was too. Asked him aboutcollege ball during the caravan and he was comparing it to FM/NB level at the CWS.
Jeremy Nygaard Twins Daily Contributor Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Vargas' suspension was last August so it is about half done I thinkI just looked through my notes from last year, Vargas has 32 games of his suspension left to serve, so he'll be eligible to return May 9th. I guess a combination of Larson/Rhodes could work for awhile. Kyle Knudson saw a little action at 1B in 2010. I know that Kepler has been getting some work at 1B too, that would make an even more interesting prospect-laden infield.
John Bonnes Site Manager Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 When to the Twins announce who is going to be on each team? I need to make a weekend trip to Beloit a priority this year.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 When to the Twins announce who is going to be on each team? I need to make a weekend trip to Beloit a priority this year. Probably around April 4th or so, 3-4 days before their season starts. The Territory Train is heading to Quad Cities to watch the Snappers on a Friday night and then heading over the Beloit for a Saturday night game in early June. I'm heading on that one. It will be fun. I'd also like to make a 2nd trip down there as well. It's a great place!
John Bonnes Site Manager Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 I won't know what our family's summer schedule looks like until some of the kids camps get picked. Once I do, I'll be looking long and hard at the Territory Train schedule.
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 It's weird about Rosario. Clearly moving him to second is ideal in the long term, but at Beloit isn't there a MI logjam while there is an OF shortage? I guess I would expect Rosario to move back and forth between 2B and CF as long as it doesn't mess with him too much.

I guess I would expect Rosario to move back and forth between 2B and CF as long as it doesn't mess with him too much.it makes perfect sense to me, last year they had no infield depth, so this year they are trying to develop there best hitters into middle infielders. With Arcia/Benson/Morales/Hicks all expected to be in AA or the majors this year they are trying to develop the proficient hitters into a spot where they can use them in the future. The future outfielders arectually look good, so there is no point at developing rosario as an outfielder, and being forced to make a decision to trade him in the near future if those guys reach there maximum potentials, which is pretty high.

Once I do, I'll be looking long and hard at the Territory Train schedule. The Snappers will be in Cedar Rapids 3 times this summer and we're about 90 minutes less road time than the Quad Cities from the Twin Cities. Of course, if someone else is driving, it's not such a big deal I guess.
jtrinaldi Provisional Member Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I am happy that Beloit plays Kane County a bunch in the first 3 months (a combined 12 times) and KC will have Bubba Starling.
ossieO Verified Member Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 FYI - Beloit Snappers single game tickets went on sale this morning at 10:00. Katie said I was the first caller at 10:15, so I don't think there is a rush. Box seats are $7.50, and there was no mention of a processing fee. Gotta love the minors. I'm going on May 18, then watching the Twins-Brewers in Milwaukee the next 2 nights. I think I'm most looking forward to the Snappers game.
