  1. Big year for Salcedo and Solliman. Both got injured last year only appearing in 2 games, after having a decent 2011 season
  2. He is likely to go to college instead of signing. He is very raw, without much instincts, and probably won't be picked until the 10th round or beyond.
  3. Both are projected to go middle to end of the first
  4. BaseballAmerica.com: High School: Awards: All-America Teams: 2013 Preseason High School All-America Team Trey Ball made it both as a hitter, and pitcher, while AJ Puk (Cedar Rapids) and Ryan Boldt (MN) also made it
  5. Sounds like it will be Grasshoppers to me
  6. Thank God I live in SE Wisconsin, Brewers don't have that policy, and the MILB teams don't have that law in place
  7. Ah, I see, you have never actually seen JP play, and forming your opinion just to start conversation.
  8. The top 5 is pretty much set, unless Ball establishes himself, instead of entering the draft as either a dual sport Athlete. The outfielders you are talking about are Meadows and Frazier, who both have a great ceiling. Just because they cannot separate themselves from one another does not mean that they are not good. The Twins second pick is likely where they can get there catcher.
  9. I agree with pretty much all of this other than Stewart. Steweart is out until April with a shoulder injury, and he has a very strong commitment. He is not likely to go top 5, so the Twins won't be looking at him seriously anyways. I just want to ask, where you read anything about him ending up in Centerfield, or if that is just your opinion? Here is a quote from the ESPN Draft blog about his potential as a SS
  10. I am just confused why you are bringing August up. This is your quote . "This point last year", is not August.
  11. Buxton was never as low as 20. Buxton was always top 5 with Giolito (before injury),Appel, and Zunino. Zimmer is the one who came out of the blue, and Devin Marrero dropped after a horrid start to the season.
  12. This draft is much weaker than last year. Next years draft is much improved. After the top 5 of this year, there is a HUGE drop off, unless Ball establishes whether he is a pitcher or a hitter. The top 5 guys are likely to be drafted within the top 5, barring injury. If I were the Twins, I would not reach at all this year (for the prime SS like Mercado or Crawford) and take the BPA.
  13. This year the tiers are as follows Tier 1: Anyone of these 5 guys could be selected #1. Manaea/Apple/Stanek (All 3 are pitchers that project as #2's) Frazier/Meadows: Both are outfielders with High Ceilings, it is a toss up who is better. Tier 2 Khris Bryant,Trey Ball,Austin Wilson,JP Crawford,Oscar Mercado,Mike Lorenzen/Colin Moran Trey Ball is the wildcard, as he is just a good pitcher as he is hitter. Mercado and Crawford are Pure shortstops who project as big league caliber, to bat at the top of the order. Both of them should be gone by 20. One guy to keep an eye on is Jan Hernandez, who has earned comparisons to Baez, but lacks consistency. Overall, I think that the Twins will take a catcher in Round 2. They should have their choice between Ciuffo,Martinez,Navaretto (has a cannon), Denney ,Collins. The prep catchers is an interesting position this year, before the UA All American game, Collins was projected to be a top 10 pick, since then he has fallen off. But don't get me wrong, this years draft is VERY WEAK. 2014 is looking pretty strong with the likes of Alex Jackson and Touki Toussant .
  14. In this order Manaea Appel Stanek Frazier/Meadows/Trey Ball (toss up, both have similar ceilings) I have seen Meadows/Frazier/Ball personally. I will hopefully be seeing Manaea at the MVC tourney in May. I will be shooting 3 games of baseball over a 3 day span with my brother, and hopefully he will be pitching in the day cap. Ball is the wildcard because he is above average as a pitcher as well as hitter/outfielder. I like Frazier more than Meadows. He has a much more fluent swing than Meadows and Ball. I have photos of several of these guys in here UA All American game | Facebook
  15. This is how the MWL played out last year. Opening Day was 4/5 Cardinals on 3/30 Royals on 3/30 Padres on 3/31 Reds on 3/31 Jays on 3/31 Rays 4/1 Indians 4/1 Dodgers 4/2 Tigers 4/2 Cubs 4/2 Brewers 4/2 A's on 4/2 Angels on 4/2 D-Backs 4/2 Seattle 4/4
  16. Rosario does not have Great Power. Sano has "Great Power". Rosario has Above Average power. Rosario should be on the fast track to move through the system, had he not been injured, he would have ended up in Fort Myers in August.
  17. He has other resources, most of which who he cannot name, as they are regional scouts, who he gets quality information from. Also, after the draft is over, the HS/College scouts end up doing the MWL & Sally league. The regional scouts do close to 30 games a month, and I often see the same guys at various stadiums across the MWL.
  18. The list terrible. Keith Law's comes out Tuesday (the list that I respect the most, Jonathan Mayo comes second) Essentially all he is doing is looking at stat lines and scouting reports compiled by people who have actually been able to form opinions about players based on what they have seen, and recycling that information, and putting a twist on it. It isn't all that hard to do that, yeah, you have to have a lot of time on your hands..but thats about it.
  19. What I don't get is why the Vikings did not try and figure out a way to work out something with the U of M
  20. The teams that pick 1-3 are all in need of a Starter, hitch is why I think the Twins will ultimately end up with Frazier/Meadows unless they draft for need and reach on JP Crawford who is a pure SS
  21. I think Wheeler moves up. Melotakis is a set up man/closer, and will probably start in the Fort after dominating the MWL hitters.
  22. C: Mauer 1B: Parmelee/Harrison (might take a lil longer for him) 2B: Pimentel/Rosario 3B: Plouffe/Sano SS: Santana OF: Arcia OF: Hicks OF: Stopgap for Buxton/Kepler/maybe Sano SP: Worley May Gibson Meyer 2013 Draft pick (if one of the 3 pitchers that project as #2's are available)
  23. For Harrison/Boyd this is the equivalent of starting their sophomore year in college. It will be interesting to see if they keep Harrison down in EX.ST to start, and then send him to E-Town again (Goodrum/Kepler) or CR during the middle of the year. Maybe they start him in CR to start, it is really unknown where he starts because of how atrocious his defense is.
  24. The Cubs and Kane County are planning on doing a few bus trips where they do a Cougar or Cub game at 1:20 or whatever time the Cougar game starts at (have a few that start at 11:00) and then do the other game at 7:00, but then again....it is only 45 minutes away. The Brewers and their class A affiliate have done games at Miller Park since 2003. When they left Beloit for West Virginia for 2 years, they did not do them. The T-Rats are only a hour and a half away from Milwaukee. I have no idea what is up with the Royals, they used to do something at Kauffman. The Cardinals are looking into it to see if they have enough interest to do it again.
  25. Harrison's defense makes Sano look like an All Star. I think he ultimately ends up at 1st base....that is if he hits enough. Sano could be an interesting case this year, If his defense has improved as much as it has been reported, and he stays around .280 through mid July, he could be in AA for the last month of the year.
