  1. Berrios will be in CR around May Buxton in June Kepler/Goodrum to start
  2. It would be nicer if they got rid of the DC crap in the background.
  3. Just announced 2013 Rochester Manager:Gene Glynn Pitching coach: Marty Mason Hitting coach: Tim Doherty
  4. the Twins are doing what they can to get by until 2015 and 2016.
  5. Logical destinations for Nolasco: Angels Brewers (doubt we have enough to trade) Rangers (you know how much they love pitching)
  6. Watching Sano for the full year this year, I can say that he is the Best Hitter to come through the MWL, since 2009 when Wil Myers was in Burlington, and Mike Trout was in Cedar Rapids. Both Trout and Myers(then a catcher) hit for average, compared to Sano who hit for Power. I have never seen a player that brought people to the ballpark in the MWL like Sano did. Fans knew who Sano was, and on the road, people actually came to the games just to see if he is as advertised. When I was in Lake County, and Fort Wayne in my Beloit gear, I had people coming up to me asking me if Sano was as good as they have been saying he is on the radio. Next years Midwest league class will be Correa/Addison Russell/Almora.
  7. Were you at the game when he hit the Grand Slam?
  8. The Twins will not spend big this year. The year they will spend big is likely to be the year that Sano and Rosario make their debuts.
  9. The 2 trades are not logical. The Marlins do not want 2 average minor leaguers for JJ. They were asking for the house from Texas and other teams that acquired at the deadline. The Rangers would not deal a future ace for an aging first baseman who cannot stay healthy.
  10. The Giants are one of the smartest organizations in all of baseball. They get it, to win you have to develop top pitching prospects. They drafted pitching in the first round for consecutive years Matt Cain, Tim Lincecum, Mad Bum, (3 out of 4 years) and when they drafted a hitter, they drafted Buster Posey as well. They traded Wheeler for Beltran, but that would be a sick rotation if Wheeler was in it. The Giants decided to sign Barry Zito because he would put them over the top, he was been terrible up until now, but now he is starting to earn some of the money the giants paid him. Minor League Free agents and waiver wire trades How many of the guys on the team have you herd of, or were on the Giants at the beginning of the year? They pulled a big move to get hunter pence (who is not just a rental, he will contribute in their future) and gave up a top catching spect, compared to giving up a future ace. By the time the Twins pick the 2 top pitchers will be off the board (manaea,Appel) so they will be stuck choosing between stanek or Meadows, and they ultimately will have to go pitcher just because of th slack of the depth they have in the system.
  11. The pitchers ceilings are all #2's. There is no ACE this year
  12. There is no reason to bring up politics in a thread like this regardless of political view. On a note of the members bickering with each other, everybody has their own opinions, some people like to make sure everybody knows their opinion. Yes, members on the board have the common sense to realize who is annoyingly aggressive with their opinion, and 95 % of those people who recognize that are mature enough to ignore them. This is a site about the Twins and baseball in general, lets keep it that way.
  13. Mauer is the only thing keeping fans in Seats. If I were the Twins, I would trade everybody but Mauer, and make Mauer feel as if he had no option but to demand a trade by going so young. At that point Joe realizes the Twins are going a different direction, and the Twins trade him for spects. The next time the Twins have a chance to compete is when Arcia,Sano,Rosario are up in the majors together. BJ Hermsen will likely be up net year and could be a #2 or #3 at a pitchers friendly ballpark.
  14. JP Crawford and Oscar Mercado are the 2 top shortstops. They are both great fielders, but cannot hit as well. They are a "Poor mans Lindor" and will go in the range from 10-15. The top Player in the class of 2014 is a 3Baseman. Jan Hernandez.
  15. This years pitching class is one of the weakest Pitching classes ever. Much like last year's class, their is no for sure ACE in this draft. The year before produced several potential aces (Bundy,Gerrit Cole,Archie Bradley,Bauer). The 3 college pitchers (Appel,Stanek,Manaea) project to be #2's or #3's. Seeing the majority of the HIgh SChool first round talent, I think that Clint Frazier will be the best player from this class. Austin Meadows is likely to be a top 4 pick, and could end up being the Twins pick. The Twins are in desperate need of pitching, so their hand may be forced to take one of the 3 collegiate arms. Clint Frazier is a Left Fielder who is extremely athletic, who hits for average and has a decent amount of power. 2 High Schoolers that could make their way into the top 15 are Nick Ciuffo and Zack Collins.
  16. I am thrilled With the A;s
  17. Yup,a deal is expected between Burlington and LAA later tonight. Really excited for Oakland to be in Beloit.
  18. Just a feeling Dwyer will look like a much better hitting coach with Sano and Rosario on the roster next season. Tommy Wants to manage, so don't be surprised if he gets a chance at some level this year....
  19. The last few years they have been going HS guys heavily (Robertson,Reed both 1st rounders) and have spent lots of money on Dominicans (Vicmal,Renato)
  20. Astros and Angel's have had long history in QC (25 of their 51 years of affiliated baseball was with those 2 teams). Lunhow is the one who negotaited the deal with QC when the Cardinals were affiliated with them,QC will take Houston, Lunhow will tell them their attendance will boom with the #1 overall pick in QC and the deal will be done. The Angels have had meetings in Burlington and QC. The A's have had meetings in Quad Cities and Beloit, and a phone call to Burlington. The Astros have held meetings in QC and Beloit and a phone call in Burlington. It is pretty much a lock that Oakland ends up in Beloit next year, and that QC will chose Houston. Beloit will not return to Burlington because of issues between Burlington's owner, and the A's which cannot be healed ( I do not want to elaborate into this because the people who told me asked for the details to be kept quiet)
  21. Have fun with Paul Molitor, he was always fun to have in Beloit. Made it here 3 times this year , for about a week each time.
  22. Beloit gets the Midwest League All Star game in 2020, and likely will have to sell the rights to the game because of the lack of stadium. 2020 is also the last year that Beloit will be around unless a new stadium is put up, or enough money has been collected to begin work on a stadium. 2020 is the first year that Beloit will be elligible to lose the team. If they lose the team, It will be all because they did not put the stadium on the river. When they had the plan to put it on the river, the head guy said no because the bugs would be terrible, and he wanted it right off the interstate. The big donors then removed all their money from the stadium that they had committed. If Beloit loses their team, I will not feel bad for the city, because they had a chance to put a stadium up, and ultimately did not. Also, just a personal note, this is likely one of my last years shooting in Beloit.
  23. The A's will be the team in Beloit, announcement is going to come early next week. I am very excited that the A's will be in Beloit. It is very exciting for me because the A's have gone young recently in the draft, and have ponied up to spend big $$$ on the Latino's. This year upcoming will not be the same with out the Twins in Beloit but I am ecstatic for the team. The Twins were not nearly as pro active in the community in their 8 years in Beloit, as they have shown in the last 2 days towards Cedar Rapids. I will miss the Twins players, but not much else about the Twins.
  24. Beloit is meeting with Houston and Oakland, no LAA. Most of the players and who don't live with host families live in Jansville. Also the 3 pieces of the coaching staff last year lived in Janesville.
  25. The A's are doing everything they can to get out of Burlington, so if they sense that they are no longer an option for Quad Cities (keep in mind that 25 of the 53 years of Affiliation for QC was with Houston and LAA) then they will likely jump ship and come to Beloit. I the A's are determined not to be in Burlington again. They had numerous problems that I cannot mention because the people who told me asked to keep it quiet. I'll just say this, The problems are on and off the field in Burlington but I cannot specify. People that I spoke to in the A's organization have hated Burlington and are the advocates to move the team anywhere else. Another thing to note is that Janesville (where the coaches normally rent) is a great city and the guys who live their love it. The players on Off Days in Beloit would go to Lake Geneva, Milwaukee or Chicago. Most of the Rovers for the Twins would stay in Milwaukee and then drive down to Beloit in for the game (1.5 hours). Burlington offers nothing like that. Beloit is definitely higher on the pecking level than Burlington.
