  1. New Update: Cedar Rapids has decided not to pursue further affiliation with the Angels
  2. The team moved to St.Paul cannot be Beloit. Beloit is community owned, as well as Burlington which would be the other likely team to be moved.
  3. It was not the Twins, it was Texas. Texas tried to own Clinton, but a deal felt through because they did not see enough potential for growth of the fan base (which is approx.26 K people) and enough projected revenue over the next 6 years in Clinton. It is very Easy to see why Beloit would be attractive in a Similar Scenario to the Rangers. Over 100K people between Beloit and Janesville, and the Snappers have not advertised at all in the offseason. A new Stadium would revive Beloit, but has been held up because of donors re allocating the amount of money to other organizations after the Stadium was not going to be put in the location that the big donors wanted.
  4. The Twins are done with Beloit.......I have herd that a team is interested in Owning the Beloit franchise with an agreement to have a new stadium up by the time they get the All Star game in 2020. The Snappers board is not interested in doing a 2 year go around as a stop gap. George Spelius is getting old and he has said for the last 5 years that by the time he is dead, there will be a new team in Beloit. Beloit has 36K people, roughly 10K more than Clinton and Burlington. If the Twins are actually looking for a stop gap until St.Paul, that would be Burlington. Burlington has had the lowest attendance for the last 20 years in the MWL. If the St.Paul plan does work Burlington will lose their franchise.
  5. So that means that means Burlington would likely be eliminated from the MWL. Had the lowest MWL attendance the last 20 years.
  6. AJ Achter should be in AA
  7. LOL, Whitson still hasn't developed his 3rd pitch.... top 4 should be Stanek Frazier Appel Meadows Followed by Moran Collins Ball this is weaker than last years class.
  8. I still think the Twins should have taken Appel. Because they took Buxton they may be pressured into taking the best Pitcher available this year in the draft. The pitching crop this year is extremely week. They are having the opposite problem that the mariners did when they took Hultzen and everyone wanted them to take Rendon. This year if they would have gone with the BPA they would have taken Appel, but because they have taken the BPA the last few years, who were pitchers they had to take the BPA who was a hitter. The Twins have no future aces other than Berrios who is around 5 years away. This years prep hitters are decent Trey Ball, Clint Frazier, Austin Meadows,Zack Collins all are better than the top HS pitcher, but because of the lack of pitching depth in the System the Twins may be forced to take a flyer on the Best Pitcher available.
  9. My understanding is that the Twins weren't all that happy about how their time in the QC ended in 2006. From what I remember at the time, and/or from when the Twins had previously renewed in Beloit, Terry Ryan has talked about how the Swing/River Bandits basically kicked them out of town so that they could try to lure either the Cubs or Cardinals. I didn't know about the new ownership, but from the sounds of things with their negotiations with the Cards, it won't matter much anyway. Yup The Twins are trying to get rid of Beloit, while Beloit wants to re up with the Twins. The Twins told Beloit they want to see how every plays out and will come back to the Board if nothing is figured out with a new city at the end of september
  10. 12. Keith said that he was there to see Sano/Rosario/Vargas and Melotakis and Jones who both did not pitch.
  13. Giants re up with Augusta (Sally)
  14. Law will be in Beloit because the UA game is in Chicago tomorrow.
  15. The only 2 sites that can be comparable to Beloit is Clinton and Burlington.
  16. http://www.etruth.com/article/20120316/SPORT/703169908/-1/sport I can see Kane County renewing with the Royals, it will be interesting to see which Sally teams end up moving to the MWL Thanks for the link. South Bend is still listed among the "expiring in 2012" MWL teams on the lists I've been checking in on so I wonder if they just haven't made the extension formal yet. Certainly appears South Bend intends to stay with the DBacks. You'd think the WhiteSox would be a candidate to move back to the MWL, but I've never heard anything about any interest on their part in doing so and I don't think their PDC expires for a couple more years anyway. Of Course people speculate that the White Sox want to come to Beloit or Kane County just because it is close for the CHI fans, the system is shot, and they expire in 2014. Depending on how many teams re up for another 2 more years, I think that the Sox could be a legitimate team to enter the MWL in 2014

  18. If Beloit is moved in 2021, Madison is the likely destination, albeit they have a college wood bat team, so lots would have to be worked out by then.
  19. The Padres put WAY too much money into that Stadium...but then again they are drawing more than AA ballparks. Fort Wayne is a lock to re up with San Diego. Here is the latest Cubs are likely headed to Kane county, Theo wants the Cubs fans (KC is a hour away from Chicago) to be a part of the rebuilding process, with Vogelbach and Almora in A ball next year, it seems like a perfect fin. Quad Cities, Fort Wayne and Dayton are a lock to re up Beloit is all but done with the Twins Here is a list of which teams are up after this year Beloit Snappers - Minnesota (signed through 2012) Bowling Green Hot Rods - Tampa Bay (signed through 2012) Burlington Bees - Oakland (signed through 2012) Cedar Rapids Kernels - Anaheim (signed through 2012) Clinton Lumber Kings - Seattle (signed through 2012) Dayton Dragons - Cincinnati (signed through 2012) Fort Wayne TinCaps - San Diego (signed through 2012) Kane County Cougars - Kansas City (signed through 2012) Peoria Chiefs - Chicago (NL) (signed through 2012) Quad Cities River Bandits - St. Louis (signed through 2012)Asheville Tourists - Colorado (signed through 2012) Augusta GreenJackets - San Francisco (signed through 2012) Greensboro Grasshoppers - Miami (signed through 2012) Hagerstown Suns - Washington (signed through 2012) Hickory Crawdads - Texas (signed through 2012) Lakewood Blue Claws - Philadelphia (signed through 2012) Lexington Legends - Houston (signed through 2012)
  20. If they convert Zack Jones to a starter successfully and he continues to develop a solid third pitch, I bet you'll change that. He is actually one of the 3-4 Twins' pitchers with higher upside than Gibson. He is a closer, not a starter. There is no advantage to moving a power arm to a starter when he is already having great success as a bullpen arm. The Twins have desperately needed a bullpen arm like him who can throw 97-99 on a consistent basis. On another note,My top 5 would look like this. Rosario is better hitter than Sano, but the Power is too great to overlook. Buxton hasn't proved **** yet so that is why I put Arcia 3rd. Dude is killing AA, him and Rosario or pretty similar hitters. Sano Rosario Arcia Buxton Hicks
  21. Too many people who have never seen a MILB game before try to act like experts just because they can look at box scores.
  22. If they were worried about being close to FT Myers and E-Town they would likely go to Lexington or a different team in the Sally......not 2 hours away from their old city....
  23. I like Cedar Rapids stadium. They would likely get double the attendance by going to Cedar Rapids than in Beloit. The Stadium is above average. The proximity to E Town or Fort Myers has nothing to do with where they will look to put their A team next year. There is still lots of negotiating to be done, but I would say the odds of the twins returning to Beloit is around 30%.
  24. Cedar Rapids, direct flight from Minneapolis. Seems like it is a no brainer cause the Angels aren't re upping with them.
  25. CR is the likely destination, they are the only city in the Western MWL that offers a direct flight from minneapolis. The Twins are all but done with Beloit.
