So....heresy coming....but should Garver be the 1B next year, to get, what, 200-250 more ABs?

Also to reduce his injury risk?

Who would our catchers be? Re-sign Castro with Astudillo the backup?

They'll bring in Greinke to quell this rally, I'm sure.

Zach already threw 5 innings today.  But hey, maybe they'll play 19 innings tonite and he'll be needed.

Most likely Castro or a vet, with Astudillo to start, yes. Then one of the catchers from the minors, like Jeffers or Rortverdt (sp?) at some point, most likely.

LaLaPalooza starts tomorrow ... so not looking forward to that.

You mean like we used to get at Bridgeman's?

Used to work on Michigan & Jackson, 11 years in the salt mines over there.

Lollapallooza was the WORST.

Hmmm ... I don’t see either of those getting more playing time than cups of coffee next season. Maybe Rortverdt gets a taste in September, but he needs to added to the 40-man

I know the corner well ...I work there, too.

Not that I would see you doing this... Does your apt complex allow you to rent out your place on Airbnb on weekends like this?

Unless they have changed the rules, the move to the roster for the acquired player is immediate. Thus, making room is also immediate.

It hasn’t happened recently, but there are examples of players switching teams between games of double headers.

Also famous in Twins history is the walk by Rick Aguilera from the bullpen to the dugout in about the 5th inning. Everyone in the park knew what was going on.

He is on the 40-man as we had space so that was immediate. But he’s not yet on the active roster as I would assume they give players and teams some time to move. I mean it’s pretty unfair to ask a player to be in Miami in one hour when they’re on the west coast. What’s a team supposed to do, play with 24 players?

The problem is that much of Garver's value is due to the position he plays. Certainly, his bat plays at first or as the DH. Given that Castro is a free agent, I really doubt the Twins would have a (nearly) complete turnover at catcher.

I've wondered if the 1B-DH situation will be the same next year, mostly because I don't really trust Sanó at third. Adding Garver to that mix might be too many players for too few positions.

Nope. Short-term rentals are not allowed.

Huh, Twins released Cody Allen today. Interesting.

Good, I'm glad we can stop talking about Allen getting called up. He wasn't getting it done at AAA and is a shell of his former self.

I'd be willing to bet it'll be an Astudillo/Garver split next year with Garver taking the majority of games.

Not true, he's hitting better than ANY first baseman this year. He's basically Pete Alonso.

Sano does complicate this for sure, if they want/need to move him to first. Of course, then Garver is your catcher again......

Garver has half as many ABs as the other top hitters in the game. How much is staying at catcher worth, if you give up 250 ABs a year?

Same... Unfortunately. When music festivals happen I wish I could rent out my place, go on vacation, and cover a couple months of rent!
