I'm waiting for someone to make some claim again about Florimon's "elite" defense.

Really hard to believe that they couldn't have found an inning or two for Slama in this game.

But at least Waldrop was efficient there.

You read my mind.

But there's just no way they could find enough relief innings to go around if they had one more reliever, no way whatsoever.

Haven't you heard?

a) He's no good any way. He had his shot.

B) There's not enough work in the pen on a team that's carried 13 pitchers for large chunks of the season

c) There's only 1 spot open on the 40 man.

d) "He'll get his shot."

Do try to keep up.

yeah, he's been ever bit (or more) as shaky as Dozier was but without even a tinge of the offensive upside. Florimon is also 6 months older than Dozier (who everyone complained was too old)

I'm sick of Burnett's putrid strikeout rate, mediocre walk rate, and fluke ERA.

Also, he's funny lookin'. But all those things you brought up are valid too.

Escobar hits for himself as the tying run in the 7th with 2 out.

No room for any callups with a stick on this roster either, I guess.

Are they even trying any more?

e) Luis Perdomo and his 6 k/9 in AAA "earned" and "deserves" a look.

f) His stuff doesn't play.

g) He has a weak mustache.

h) Just because.

Well Perk got some work.

I was personally impressed by the intestinal fortitude it took to hold him (or Burton) back in case he was needed to save the 9th while strategically using mediocre relievers when a far less meaningful situation occurred in the 7th: no outs, two on, tie game...

JoeC's postgame talked about the tiny strike zone the umpire had. I saw only parts of the game, but I do agree, his zone had no corners for most of the game that I saw. That said, Hendriks and Gardenhire didn't use the small zone as an excuse. I'll add that a "strike thrower" like Hendriks would benefit alot from a more generous strike zone and that I can see why he can be effective in the minors, but struggle in the big leagues. He hits the glove with a very straight 90-91 mph fastball. He has to have very good command for those pitches to be effective.
