Pitz Verified Member Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 Wow ... LaRon Smith signed for $125K. I haven't found much about him other than a prior commitment to Indian Hills Community College. Good size for a HS SS with room to grow. Very young HS senior. It will be fun watching him work through the system. Isn't he a catcher?
NapoleonComplex Verified Member Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 Perfect Game lists him as a SS. I was curious about him listed as a catcher on the original post as well.
Monkeypaws Verified Member Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 (edited) In spite of a thread called "front office flop," these guys boss the draft. They've gotten great value in their top ten the last 2 drafts by playing slot values. About Smith - 6'2", 200 - won't turn 18 until September. Nice "international" signing. Pitz Verified Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 Round 16: Anthony Tuionetoa | RHP | Signed For: $100,000 Any intel on him?Today, I noticed in looking at MLB's draft results/signings for the Twins that he was not listed as signed. But I'm pretty sure when I looked yesterday he was listed as signed. Did something happen or was this just a glitch with MLB's site?
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 It's not as if they didn't sign, what, their top 23 selections this year...But those picks were self-selected to match the goal (staying under the pool). If one thinks the goal should have been different (spending the overage), then citing the actual picks/goal is non-responsive. It is a little troubling that we haven't done that yet, even under a new front office with two very different draft positions (last year with a huge pool, and this year with a smaller pool and two lost picks). Also, ordering is particularly irrelevant, particularly after 10 rounds. ashbury and Mike Sixel 2
Ewidell Provisional Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 Maui news just reported that 16th rounder Anthony Tuionetoa decided to attend Yavapai College and not sign with the Twins.
