Doomtints Verified Member Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 There are periods where this site is completely inaccessible for a few minutes to an hour at a time. When this happens, traceroutes are dying at some webhosting provider called privatesystems.net, which is one hop out from TwinsDaily.com. Why not just use godaddy, where you bought your domain anyway? They are reliable and cheap. Anyway, if you moved to this provider in the past couple of weeks/months, they're crap and you should move away from them. If you've been with them forever, give them a call to ask what's going on. If you have been looking at traffic logs lately and are wondering why traffic is down, this is why.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 Huh. Anyone else having this problem? I haven’t seen a slowdown, much less a time-out, in months on the site. Also, we’ve been with our current web host for years now and haven’t upgraded/moved hardware in maybe 18 months or so. And you couldn’t pay me to use GoDaddy hosting. To complain about their level of customer service gives them too much credit, as it implies they have customer service. Even their hardware price points aren’t particularly good considering their lack of service. They should spend way less on advertising and way more on techs.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 I messaged you about troubles I was having the other day. But it seems to have worked its way out and was only over a 24-36 hr period. I chalked it up to a new work computer (because it wasn't happening at home) and hasn't been an issue since then. But I did quit and reboot a couple of times, just in case that was it, and it didn't seem to be during that period. But, as I said, it stopped doing it and I went on my merry way.

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 I'm getting this the past couple of days. On this site and no other. Safari on Mac.

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Interesting. I’ll flip over to safari for a bit and see if I can replicate it.Still seeing this a lot. And pages (not surprisingly the ads, but these slow the whole page load) take a long time to load. I have Flash disabled, so that's probably not it.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Yeah, I'm getting some really slow loads and time outs again. On my work computer mostly. But then maybe I'm just at work when it's happening. Using Firefox. I sometimes try Chrome but it's no better.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Sierra What version of Safari and OSX/macOS are you running?Sierra 10.12.6, Safari 11.1.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Sierra Sierra 10.12.6, Safari 11.1.Weird. That's essentially what I'm running and I haven't seen any issues over the past couple of days. I'll keep using it and see what happens.

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Okay, I'm trying the following site-specific settings. Will see if it make any difference.
bighat Verified Member Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Chiming in - this has been happening to me as well. Only during game times, only during what appears to be "heavy usage time" for the forum. For example, at the start of the game yesterday, I had no issues. However, when the Twins were making a comeback effort in the 6th, I got a lot of "website time out" notifications and really slow loading. I was using Firefox. If it happens today I'll send a screenshot or anything else you might need.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 *scratches head* Okay, thanks for chiming in. This is so weird... the site has been not only good for me lately but it has been unusually fast.

I'd say better provider but that's pretty much a given.

diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 For the record, I've switched from IE/Firefox to Edge and noticed a huge improvement on the site in general. Both IE and FF would stop responding and/or crash at some point. Only real issue with Edge is that when I use the quick reply, the space bar doesn't work and instead of putting a space between words, it scrolls me to the end of the page. I can usually go back and put a space in and everything is fine... really weird. I know Nicksaviking described similar behavior with Chrome.
Doomtints Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Author Posted May 8, 2018 I haven't been able to access this site at all from my home since I originally posted this message. When I posted this, the problem was intermittent. Now it's all the time. I'm on U-Verse in the Chicago area. Traceroutes die right at the last hop, so the issue is on your end.

It’s better than it was, but it still occurs.
Doomtints Verified Member Posted May 29, 2018 Author Posted May 29, 2018 Congrats, it seems someone finally figured it out.
