Mill1634 Verified Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Who plays out of the park baseaball? Personally, I love it and found out about online leagues. Is anyone else interested in joining one that I found? It's amazing playing and trading with other users. I love this game. Respond to this or PM if anyone is interested.
ashbury Verified Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 I get addicted enough to this game playing just on my computer. I have no idea what would happen if I had external stimulus to keep checking my inbox frequently. Hard pass.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 I bought OOTP 17 on an Amazon special a couple of weeks ago. Don't have any idea what I'm doing on that game so far. If anyone has tips for a brand new player, it would be much appreciated. I was kind of annoyed within the first day of my franchise with the Twins Brad Hand was traded for peanuts on the dollar.

I don't have many tips, except to start fresh, over and over under various scenarios and various strategies, and enjoy seeing how the game responds. Accept that it's a time consuming game. Try a complete gut and rebuild, for instance; that almost always fails for me, but maybe you'll have better success. The game seems realistic in most ways but you'll probably find loopholes you can exploit. One feature I consider a bug and which I nevertheless exploit: when negotiating with a free agent, an offer of a team option year seems to be viewed as of value to the player, rather than as a detriment. Oh, here's a tip I believe in: on your first day as GM, hire the best scouting director available, and don't worry about the cost of firing the incumbent. Don't make any player moves until he's on board. OK, and one last: the day after the World Series, do a full roster evaluation, do a search of players outside your system, and formulate a comprehensive plan for your off-season. Don't just make piecemeal trades and signings. Apologies to milldaddy35 for this tangent to his thread.

All of it. I know it will take some time, but it is a must, http://manuals.ootpdevelopments.com/index.php?man=ootp18 The second thing to do. Read this reddit post. https://www.reddit.com/r/OOTP/comments/2shqeg/a_massive_collection_of_every_tip_and_trick_ive/ After that, you should be a lot more skilled at the game. Hope it helps.

I have no idea what would happen if I had external stimulus to keep checking my inbox frequently. Hard pass. Doesn't actually take that much time. Basically, the commish sims a week at a time four times a week (M,W,F,Su) and then you download the file over the game, then export. Exporting takes anywhere from 5-30 minutes depending on what happened to your team that sim. It is really nice, actually, and isn't a big time eater.

SwainZag Community Moderator Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 I am the commish of a league that has been going on for nearly 8 real life years and in-game we just finished our 21st season. Fully fictional league with 30 teams. I love the game. We have a few teams open if anyone is interested into dipping into the online league world, it's fun and we have a lot of good guys.
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 I'm game for either league. Long-time OOTP user. Never done online though.

Never done online though.Appears your PM's are full: Hey man,Go here to sign up for the league - http://simchampions.com/theclb/Create an account, then you will see a "shoutbox"Here you can say hey, I am looking to get set-up for the league and someone will be there to help you. Sims take place M/W/F/Su, and go one week at a time, so we finish a week in game every real life week. The league is a ton of fun and people will be willing to help you out at first while figuring things out. Let me know when you get created over there, and if you need any help. Hope to see you over there.Mill
