The Talker - After the Twins win the World Series

I know, I know, the narrative is supposed to be "Surprising Twins become first team to lose 100 wins and make the playoffs" - followed by "Damn Yankees. Twins season still a huge success, despite losing (again) to NY"

 

Instead, since journalistic excellence requires folks to go back and try and figure out how they didn't see this coming, lets talk about what the narrative will be once the Twins hoist the trophy (and not one of the "participation" variety).

 

Without further ado, I present to you the 5 reasons we should have seen this coming: 

 

1. Since Oct 5th, the Twins lead the MLB in runs
2. The outfield defense is anchored by the best fielder in baseball, who himself is bracketed by two CFs
3. Lineup Depth - while the Twins only had one batter hit .300, and only one hit 30 HR, they were 4th in the league in OPS, 4th in the league in runs, T-4th in average .. they had guys who could beat you up and down the lineup.
4. As the team wearing the "not supposed to be here" title belt, they played with the least amount of pressure
5. Molitor called for bunts at critical / crucial times which as we know always works out.

I considered that, but the stats from # 3 are from the regular season. And it wouldn’t be a surprise to learn that the Twins ranked best in runs scored since say September 5th.

#6 John Curtiss came out of nowhere to pitch 14 scoreless appearances, stranding 12 base runners without giving up any of his own.

I just looked it up, the actual MLB leader in runs scored since Sep. 5th is the Yankees. 2nd is the Marlins, and the Twins are 3rd.

Meant August 5th. Guess it was 1st in AL in runs, not MLB.
