Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 STAND UP AND SHOUT LOS ANGELES FANS! WOO!!!!! Here's pics of the LA Rams and LA Chargers opening game. The Chargers can't even fill up a 27,000 seat soccer stadium..... What a disaster.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 I think they care more about the massive TV and merch market, but still, yeah, that's pathetic.

Dodgers' tv network paid a fortune under that idea and nobody can even watch them because the carriage fees are too high for providers. If the local tv channels are gummed up with trash football games dominated by Rams and Chargers then no one is going to watch. They just don't care enough there. You won't foster a loyal fanbase with a transient population using nakedly greedy and disloyal business behavior.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 This was the largest audience to witness a football game, period - both in person and around the world.

Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 But, won't games be blacked out if they don't sell out?Im not sure. I assume they find a way to sell it out, with corporate sponsors picking up tickets, and/or the NFL fudging the rules, but I could be wrong. I mean, this isn't a surprise to anyone, is it?
snepp Verified Member Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 I mean, this isn't a surprise to anyone, is it? No, no it's not. It's that old, fool me once, fool me 6, or 7, or 8 times adage.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2017 Author Posted September 27, 2017 Here's a fivethirtyeight article about football in LA and it not being successful. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-rams-are-suffering-the-nfls-worst-attendance-decline-in-decades/ The Rams are on pace to have the largest season to season drop-off in attendance.
Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 almost no one cares about these teams out here. Not a football town. Those who do like the NFL all seem to be Raiders fans still.
