wavedog Verified Member Posted August 7, 2017 Author Posted August 7, 2017 Rooker has completed 20 games at Ft. Myers and admittedly he is off to a slow start at Single A. Currently batting .200 with 3 HR's 2 Doubles and 9/23 BB/K's. He had an interesting last week batting .261 with 2 HR's including a Grand Slam - but he had only 1BB to go along with 10K's. So he struck out over 40% of his AB. Most of his K's have been swinging K's but this past week 4 of the 10 strikeouts were looking - so it appears he is trying a different approach. They are rotating him between playing LF, 1B and at DH. Now for something completely different - if you are interested in him being interviewed while he was at Mississippi State in 2016 and learning his thoughts on Alien's and UFO's this is the video for you. His interview portion begins at about the 11:30 mark of the video. http://www.hailstate.com/news/2016/4/21/210901988.aspx?path=baseball
old nurse Verified Member Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 A+ pitching might be the best pitching he has seen. Some claim average age to league is important. He is a little younger than league average. It is a head start for next year.
AZTwin Verified Member Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Rooker just got his 6 home run and 21st RBI in his 25th game in high A ball. Combine that with his rookie ball experience and he has 13 homeruns and 38 RBI in 47 games. I have to admit where I'm wrong. He is having much more success in high A ball than I was expecting
wavedog Verified Member Posted August 15, 2017 Author Posted August 15, 2017 A quick update on Mr Rooker's 4th week in Ft Myers. He was named Florida State player of the week - congrats! Anyway great week for Brent - he batted .364 with 3 HR's and 13 RBI's. He also cut his K's in half from the prior 2 weeks. Still would be nice to see a few more walks*. Brent has played 4 weeks in Ft Myers and here are his HR's by week: 0 ,1, 2, 3 . Nice trend, I guess we should look for 4 HR's this week? *I just noticed Brent walked 3 times in Monday's game so looks like he took my request for more walks to heart.
bluechipper Provisional Member Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Rooker also made MLB Pipeline's prospect team of the week. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/248368232/prospect-team-of-week-led-by-nick-senzel/?topicid=151437456

AZTwin Verified Member Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 10 home runs in 128 at bats in the Florida state league is incredibly impressive. Isn't it known to be a pitchers league? Just trying to look at some of our power hitters in the past: Justin morneu hit 4 homers in about 190 at bats though only 20 years old Miguel sano hit 16 in 206 at bats so about the same clip. He was also 20. Brian Dozier hit 7 home runs in 500 at bats at age 23-24. Max Kepler hit 5 homers in 400 at bats age 21-22 Lamonte wade hit 4 homers in 110 at bats last year at age 22 Rooker is 22. Unfortunately don't have a ton of college guys to compare him against but I think it looks promising
Billy Amick Wichita Wind Surge - AA 1B/3B Despite hitting just .194, the 23-year-old ranks fourth in the Texas League in Home Runs (17) and sixth in RBI (50). Explore Billy Amick News >
